Restore Hathazari temples and Hindu shops:The High Court ordered the government of Bangladesh

Dhaka, Mar 1:

The High Court ordered the government on Thursday to restore the damaged temples, houses and shops in Hathazari to their previous state.

Following an altercation between the Hindu devotees and Muslims while passing a mosque on Feb 9, a number of temples were vandalised and torched and a number of houses and business establishments of Hindu minority were looted on Feb 9-10.

The bench of justices A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Sheikh Md Jahangir Hossain issued the orders and also summoned Hathazari Police Station officer-in-charge Samiul Islam and district superintendent ZA Morshed.

The duo appeared before the judges at the hearing. The court directed inspector general of police to supervise the case filed over the incidents.

The court directed the police chief to provide security within three days of restoring the damaged structures. He has been also ordered to investigate whether the Chittagong range deputy inspector general and assistant SP neglected their duty during the incident.

Advocate Abdul Matin Khosru argued for the ASP and OC while deputy attorney general A B M Altaf Hossain defended the government.

English daily New Age published an article on the incident in its weekly s'Extra'. Supreme Court lawyer and Ganaforum leader Subrata Chowdhury urged for the court's attention to the article on Feb 27.

Chowdhury told m that arson and vandalism took place at 15 temples, Maths and Ashrams, 12 shops and 15 homesteads in the Feb 9-10 incident.

I am not advocating riots but these channels never talk about people and their families who are victims of Godhra train carnage, they never mention of anniversaries of 1984 Anti Shikh riots like they do for Godhra, Media aftr all doesn't seem to be independent and unbiased at all.

Now let us see the exact horrid, lurid details of the massacre of 27^th February 2002 with the background.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had organized a ‘Purnahuti Yagya’ in Ayodhya in February- March 2002. People participating in this ‘Yagya’ had simply participated and gone home. They did not stay in Ayodhya until 15^th March 2002 for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya at the undisputed site.

People from all parts of the country went to Ayodhya, participated in this event i.e. the Purnahuti Yagya and returned home from mid-February to 27^th February 2002.

A trainload of such people called ‘Karsevaks’ or ‘Ramsevaks’ were returning to Ahmedabad in Gujarat from Ayodhya after participating in the Purnahuti Yagya. Whether they were all members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad or just ordinary people supporting the VHP’s stance on Ram temple is not known.

Shortly after the train left the Godhra railway station at 7: 47 AM, a mob of 2,000 people stopped it. The mob was armed with petrol bombs, acid bombs and swords. The attackers poured petrol into the compartment and then it afire. Two thousand people were standing on all sides of the compartment to prevent the karsevaks from running away and saving their lives from the fire. The karsevaks were literally caught between devil and the deep sea. There was fire inside and armed Muslims outside. The karsevaks were burnt to death in a most horrifying manner. Many of the charred bodies were beyond recognition. The victims included 14 children, including a couple of siblings and also a couple of old women of above 65. They were all done to death in a most brutal manner.

Odisha: 3000 reconverted to Hinduism

Rourkela: The VHP on Friday claimed that over 3,000 people of 658 families from three states were reconverted to Hinduism at a function held in Sundargarh district.

People from Odisha and neighbouring Jharkhand and Chhattishgarh congregated at Sundargarh town where the function, described by the VHP as "home coming", was held yesterday.

Several people, particularly poor and uneducated tribals and dalits had converted through allurement, international executive president of VHP Pravin Togadia said at the function demanding a strict law against conversion.

Delhi court asks police to investigate Islamist website

The Delhi High Court Wednesday sought a status report from the Delhi Police commissioner on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a ban on a Islamist website as it allegedly threatened communal harmony in India.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Rajiv Shah Endlaw directed police chief to submit the report on website www.shariah4hind.com within a week.

The PIL filed by Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, president of the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, alleged that the website brings constitution of India and its secular feature into disrespect and disrepute.

"Extreme Islamic groups are planning to organise a huge rally in Delhi propagating Islamisation of Indian subcontinent and enforcement of Shariah law all over India and hence this may result into communal clashes and disruption of public peace and order in State of Delhi and other parts of India," the petition said.

It sought the court's direction for the central and Delhi government to conduct detailed inquiry into the claims of Shariah4hind that a public rally shall be organized in Delhi March 3.

Appearing for Bagga, advocate Vikas Padora also sought the central and state governments be directed to include the group into the list of banned organisations, "as the group works against the integrity and sovereignty of India".

Dhirendranath Datta:The pioneer of Language Movement in Pakistan

Today is International Mother Language Day

When the British left the Indian subcontinent in 1947, they divided the country into two parts. The Western and Eastern parts became Pakistan while the middle part became India.

Pakistan's western and eastern wings were very different in their culture and languages. The only tie was their common religion. After independence, most of the leaders of Pakistan were from West Pakistan, and many of them wanted to make Urdu as the only national language of Pakistan. However, the Bengalis from the East Pakistan were the majority (56%) of the population. Urdu was quite unknown to them, and the Bengalis wanted equal status of their mother language: Bengali language.

Initially there were hopes that both Urdu and Bengali will have equal status. But in 1952, the government finally declared Urdu to be the only national language. This meant that Bengalis would not be able to use their own language for official purposes, documents, jobs etc. There was a spontaneous movement against it. Students, teachers, poets, politicians united to protest against the government.

On 21 February, the government declared a ban on any processions or protests in Dhaka, the capital of East Pakistan. The Bengali students started a peaceful procession in support of Bengali language. Near Dhaka Medical College campus, Pakistani Police force fired upon the protesters, and killed a large number of students (including Salam, Barkat, Rafique, Jabbar, Shafiur). The protest went on and became a nationwide movement. Finally, the government of Pakistan gave equal status to Bengali language as the national language of the country.

The language movement caused Bengalis to unite, and later this led to the liberation of Bangladesh as an independent nation in 1971.

To commemorate the sacrifice of the language activists, a monument named the "Shaheed Minar" (or the language martyr's monument) was built on the site of the massacre. The Pakistan Police initially demolished the structure, but it was rebuilt. Every year, Bengalis commemorate this event with a renewed pledge of love for their language. A month long book fair is organized near the monument, and the day is a national holiday. In recognition of the Bengali language movement of 21st february, the United Nations declared it as the International Mother Language Day.

But little do we know a Hindu Bengali was the first to formally demand Bengali be made one of the state languages of Pakistan.

His name was Dhirendranath Datta. He was a Bengali lawyer by profession who was also active in the politics of undivided Bengal in pre-partition India, and later in East Pakistan (1947–1971). He was born on November 2, 1886 in Ramrail, in Brahmanbaria District, Bengal Province (in today's Bangladesh).

Early life

His father Jagabandhu Datta was a lawyer, and introduced Dhirendranath to the legal profession from an early age. Dhirendranath was educated at Nabinagar High School, Comilla Zilla School and Ripon College in Calcutta.
Dhirendranath Datta began his career as a school teacher, eventually becoming an Assistant Headmaster of the Bangura Highschool in Comilla. He was highly active in the local community, and was a leader of the relief effort following devastating floods in 1915. He formed the Mukti Sangha, a welfare organization, after becoming inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. His work in relief continued up to the Bengal Famine of 1943. Dhirendranath joined the Comilla District Bar in 1911, and continued to practice up until he was advised to give up his profession in favor of politics by his political comrade Chittaranjan Das.
Along with many politically active Bengalis of his time, Dhirendranath took a firm stand following the Bengal Partition of 1905. He chose to oppose the partition, working closely with other anti-partition activists such as Surendranath Banerjee and Rabindranath Tagore. He joined the Indian National Congress from Mymensingh District and was first elected to the Bengal Legislative Council in 1937. He was arrested by the British rulers of India for his participation in the Quit India movement of 1942.
While he firmly opposed the creation of Pakistan and partition of India on communal lines, when it became clear that partition of Bengal was inevitable and that his home district of Comilla was to fall in the new Muslim majority state, unlike many other Hindu leaders, Dhirendranath firmly opted to remain in East Bengal, and as a result, was invited to be part of the constitutional committee that started meeting before the actual independence of Pakistan, to draft the legislative framework of the new country.
Dhirendranath continued to represent his constituency as a member of the renamed Pakistan National Congress as a Hindu member (seats were allocated by a quota according to religion). On February 23, 1948 in the Pakistan Constituent Assembly in Karachi, Dhirendranath made a speech calling for Bengali to be made one of the official languages of Pakistan, in what was to become the action he will be most remembered for by his compatriots.

Dhirendranath Datta's speech of 23 February 1948 to the Pakistan Constituent Assembly in Karachi, presided over by Mohammad Ali Jinnah, was the first formal articulation of the demand for Bengali to be made one of the state languages of Pakistan. This culminated in the Language Movement of 1952 and the martyrdom of the Language Heroes. This movement is regarded by many as the first step towards the Liberation Movement leading to independence of Bangladesh in 1971. For this reason, Dhirendranath Datta's speech is regarded as one of the most important events in the history of East Pakistan and Bangladesh.

"Sir, in moving this— the motion that stands in my name--- I can assure the House that I do so not in a spirit of narrow Provincialism, but, Sir, in the spirit that this motion receives the fullest consideration at the hands of members.

I know, Sir, that Bengali is a provincial language, but, so far our state is concerned, it is the language of the majority of the people of the state. So although it is a provincial language, as a language of the majority of the people of the state it stands on a different footing. Out of six crores and ninety lakhs [69 million] of people of people inhabiting this State, 4 crores and 40 lakhs 44 million of people speak the Bengali language. So, Sir, what should be the State language of the State of Pakistan? The State language of the State should be the language which is used by the majority of the people of the State, and for that, Sir, I consider that Bengali language is a lingua franca of our State.

It may be contended with a certain amount of force that even in our sister dominion the provincial language have not got the status of a lingua franca because in her sister dominion of India the proceedings of the Constituent Assembly is conducted in Hindustani, Hindi or Urdu or English. It is not conducted in the Bengali language but so far as the Bengali is concerned out of 30 cores of people inhabiting that sister dominion two and a half crores speak the Bengali language. Hindustani, Hindi or Urdu has been given an honoured place in the sister dominion because the majority of the people of the Indian Dominion speak that language. So we are to consider that in our state it is found that the majority of the people of the Indian Dominion speak that language. So we are to consider that in our State it is found that the majority of the people of the State do speak the Bengali language then Bengali should have an honoured place even in the Central Government.

I know, Sir, I voice the sentiments of the vast millions of our. In the meantime I want to let the House Know the feelings of the vastest millions of our State. Even, Sir, in the Eastern Pakistan where the people numbering four crores and forty lakhs 44 million speak the Bengali language the common man even if he goes to a Post Office and wants to have a money order form finds that the money order is printed in Urdu language and is not printed in Bengali language or it is printed in English. A poor cultivator, who has got his son, Sir, as a student in the Dacca University and who wants to send money to him, goes to a village Post Office and he asks for a money order form, is printed in Urdu language. He can not send the money order but shall have to rush to a distant town and have this money order form translated for him and then the money order, Sir, that is necessary for his boy can be sent. The poor cultivator, Sir, sells a certain plot of land or a poor cultivator purchases a plot of land and goes to the Stamp vendor and pays him money but cannot say whether he has received the value of the money is Stamps. The value of the Stamp, Sir, is written not in Bengali but is written Urdu and English. But he can’t say, Sir, whether he has got the real value of the Stamp. These are the difficulties experienced by the common man of the State.

The language of the State should be such which can be understood by the common man of the State. The common man of the State numbering four crores and forty lakhs [44 million] find that the proceedings of the Assembly which is their mother of parliaments is being conducted in a language, Sir which is unknown to them. Then, Sir, English has got an honoured place, Sir, in Rule 29. I know, Sir, English has got an honoured placed because of the International Character. But, Sir, if English can have an honoured place in Rule 29 that the proceedings of the Assembly should be conducted in Urdu or English why Bengalee, which is spoken by the four crores forty lakhs [44 million] of people should not have an honoured place, Sir, in Rule 29 of the procedure Rules.

So, Sir, I know I am voicing the sentiments of the vast millions of our State and therefore Bengali should not be treated as a Provincial Language. It should be treated as the language of the State. And, therefore, Sir, I suggest that after the word ‘English, the words ‘Bengali’ be inserted in Rule 29. I do not wish to detain the House but I wish that the Members of the Constituent Assembly present here should give a consideration to the sentiments of the vast millions of our State, Sir, and should accept the amendment to Rule 29 that has been moved by me."

He continued to be a thorn in Pakistan establishment; in 1954, he moved an adjournment motion against the declaration of Governor's Rule in East Pakistan, and was seen as the de facto face of protest and democracy.
He served as the Minister of Health and Social Welfare (East Pakistan) in Ataur Rahman Khan's cabinet (1956–58).
He was placed under house arrest during the 1965 India-Pakistan War and declared a security threat, primarily because of his Hindu faith and because of his alleged links to the emerging underground Bengali Nationalist movement, supposed members of which included Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. After this, he refrained himself from active politics but kept on supporting the rising nationalist movement from behind.
The Pakistan establishment never forgot Dhirendranath's continued defiance of state discrimination and authoritarianism. At the onset of Bangladesh Liberation War, he was arrested from his Comilla house on March 29, 1971, three days after the arrest of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and taken with his son, Dilip Kumar Datta, to Moynamoti Cantonment and tortured to death For this reason, he is often referred to as "Shaheed" (martyr) as a sign of respect. His granddaughter, Aroma Datta, lives in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and is Executive Director of PRIP Trust, a prominent NGO focused on humanitarian work.

Just after the successful completion of the 4th anniversary (HINDU SAMHATI FOUNDATION DAY) of Hindu Samhati, the Kolkata Police followed its President, Tapan Kumar Ghosh with a definite planning to arrest him under the higher instruction of the West Bengal State Authority. Within three hours the Police Contingent of Jadavpur PS arrested him in late evening against a warrant issued out of Jadavpur P.S. Case No. 52/dt 05.02.2012 u/s 295 A, 298 and 120 B (IPC). As per source, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee is very much shocked after seeing a successful grand rally for Hindu demands to stop Muslim appeasement and Islamic insurgency in West Bengal.

It is held by some socio-political analysts that some hectic process is going on West Bengal Police Head Quarter at Lalbazar, Kolkata to some severe (but false charges) against the arrested leader to put down his Hindu Activism.

As reported an Islamist organization is going to protest in Kolkata streets near Esplanade on 15th Feb, 2012 with a demand to ban Hindu Samhati as they think it as a prime force against Muslim design to capture West Bengal under a broadened corridor of Bangladesh. Arresting Tapan Ghosh, Mamta Banerjee is trying to give a sharp message in favour her pro-Islamic Stand.

Sri Tapan Ghosh is now detained in Jadavpur Police Station and in good health condition.

Some sharp reactions just recieved :

Swami Tejsananda ( Member, Marg Darshak Mandali, VHP ): Is practicing Hindu Dharam and assembling to protect Dhrama from the clutch from anti Hindu Spirit supposed to a sin for the Hindus in West Bengal? Nobody can stop us from regaining our position of Hindus in Bengal. Hindus should be united again without seeing any political colour. I condemn the arrest of Tapan Ghosh vehemently.

Sri Ramesh Bhai Shinde (Hindu Janjagruti Samity): We vehemently protest the illegitimate arrest of Sri Tapan Ghosh. We, the Hindus have the fundamental rights to assemble to place our demands and share our agony and anxieties coming to us by some parts to harm the Hindu society. We see a definite threat is being perceived by the Hindus for various reasons. Hindu Samhati as a forum is trying to address all the vulnerable positions to the Bengali Hindus for its survival. If any other populace from others religions are permitted to hold their function without any such restrictions, why this Organization is being censored even after getting Honb’le Court order in its favor. We think the present Govt. in West Bengal is setting a very bad example in West Bengal by ignoring Court’s order only to appease the Muslim minority in West Bengal. Acharya Yogesh Shastri (Arya Samaj, Bengal): It is very much unfortunate that Hindu functions are under gradual cease in Paschim Banga. Hindu Rights are being infringed in the name of Parivartan (CHANGE). Last year this Trinmul and Congress alliance Govt. lead by Smt. Mamata Banerjee grossly violated Hon’ble Calcutta High Court Order in connection with total ban on cow slaughter in West Bengal. Ignoring that Court Order, Mamta Banerjee hurts the Hindu sentiment. And now in the same way the present Chief Minister of West Bengal is dis-allowing the rights of Hindus in the matter of Freedom of Speech and Rights to Assemble. it is dangerous for any democratic atmosphere in Bengal. As a result, the Majority Hindus may drastically retaliate without check. I condemn the arrest of Sri Tapan Kumar Ghosh and plea early release. He must not be endangered in police custody anyway.

Stephen Knapp (Srinandanandan ~Vedic Scholar): If M. Bannerjee (Cheif Minister, West Bengal – ed.) is pro-Islam in West Bengal, things are going to get very difficult for Hindus. Religious Rights of Hindus in Bangladesh in grave danger: Hindu Loknath Temple vandalised, Jamaat E Islami suspected

Chittagong (Bangladesh), February 11: Religious rights of Hindus in Islamic nations are worsening as Hindu Loknath Temple has been vandalized and torched in Hathazari near Chittagong in Bangladesh. Jamaat E Islami's cadre are suspected to do this illegitimate act against Hindus.

Authorities clamped Section 144 banning public gathering at Hathazari on Friday amid mounting tensions after several Hindu temples were vandalised and torched there.

Local people claimed religious bigots of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir incited the vandalism and arson of the temples from Thursday evening to Friday noon.

Tensions that boiled over into violence originated Thursday morning following rumours that a mosque had been attacked. Allegations have it that houses of Hindus in the area were also attacked. The leaders of the Hindu minority there blamed the 'indifference' of the administration for the situation.

Another group of people took to the Chittagong-Rangamati road blocking traffic from Nandirhat to Hathazari Sadar upazila around 11am Friday. They also said their Friday prayers on the road.

They alleged a mosque had allegedly been hurled with brick bats from a procession of Loknath Sebashram Thursday morning. The blockaders demanded arrest of those linked with 'hurling brick bats on the mosque'.

After simmering tensions through the day, Primary and Mass Education Minister Afsarul Ameen, city Awami League president A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Chittagong Development Board chairman Abdus Salam and city Awami League's joint secretary Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul went to the area and calmed the agitated locals in the afternoon.

"Tensions mounted following a misunderstanding. Security in temples and mosques in the area has been strengthened and the law enforcers have been alerted," Ameen said.

Chittagong district deputy commissioner Faiz Ahmed told reporters about the ban on public assembly through the imposition of Section 144. "Police will take action if they see any gathering," he said.

According to the local people, Hindus in the area took out a procession to celebrate the founding anniversary of Loknath Sebasram Thursday morning. They used microphone and drums in the procession. When the procession was passing a mosque, Muslims in the mosque forbade them to drums. At stage, someone from mosque hurled a brick bat on the procession one.

An altercation took place at once which turned into chase and counter-chase when someone from the procession responded by throwing a brick bat.

Police organised a meeting between the two parties. A group of Muslims said that the meeting will be held in the mosque and the Hindus agreed.

The meeting started in the evening. Requesting anonymity, several of those who attended the meeting told Media that a handful of miscreants vandalised a temple on the Loknath Sebasram premises when the meeting was underway. They also vandalised seven to eight cars of the temple's visitors.

Puja Udjapon Committee convenor Ashok Kumar Deb told that someone broke a windowpane of the mosque after the incident in the morning and a rumour that Hindus vandalised the mosque spread in the area.

On Friday morning, temples in the area were vandalised and shops owned by Hindus were torched and looted after madrasa students in the area gathered following an announcement through a PA system.

A correspondent in Chittagong has reportedly said that he saw tell-tale signs of vandalism in three other temples in the area. They are the Sri Sri Jagadeshwari Ma Temple and Jagannath Bigroho Temple at Nandirhat and Kalibari Temple at Sadar upazila. The Sri Sri Jagadeshwari Ma Temple was burnt, too.

Many of the people in the area said a quarter is provoking the incident and Zila Parishad administrator M A Salam pointed the finger at Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.

As the area is only three kilometres away from the Chittagong University (CU), many of the leaders and activists of Chhatra Shibir's CU unit live there. Moreover, the largest madrasa of the country is located in the area and Shibir allegedly controls it.

Salam, an Awami League leader, said Jamaat and Shibir leaders were fuelling the tension to destabilise the situation after CU was ordered shut on Wednesday following deaths of two Shibir men in clashes with activists of pro-government students.

Local MP and Jatiya Party presidium member Anisul Islam Mahmud went to the area in the morning but failed to get the situation any better.

The disturbing developments prevented the annual festival of the Loknath Temple to begin Friday morning. A large number of Rapid Action Battalion members and police have been deployed there.

The plight of the minorities in Islamic nations like Bangladesh are getting worse day by day as cases of Human Rights violations of religious minorities are on a rise. Who is the savior for Hindus in Bangladesh, is the real question which has not found an answer yet.

Comparison with a similar exercise conducted in August 2011 points to rapidly rising popularity of Modi and fast declining appeal of current establishment. It’s becoming increasingly clear that country is desperately in want of decisive leadership and a huge section of Indians consider Modi, given his track record of exemplary&graft free governance, as a person who can lead country from front and end all pervading paralysis in governance, corruption and institutional degeneration.

The opinion poll findings are no surprise for his admirers who are eagerly waiting on BJP leadership to respond to popular sentiment of its cadre and a significant section of voting population. While some political pundits may deny Modi’s popularity outside BJP constituency, there are enough indications on ‘neutral’ voters ‘s increasing endorsement of Modi. Middle India is certainly warming to Modi

Recently, a local BJP leader in Andhra shared an experience with this writer; the leader met a doctor with a radical-left past who questioned him why can’t BJP choose Modi for PM .The good doctor further explained how his friend got an opportunity to do business in Gujarat with prompt approvals, arrangements and without any expenditure on bribes. Clearly we have good indications that businesses, political class, media and significant general population across India are increasingly aware of transparent practices under Modi in Gujarat. However, it is also imminent that Modi as PM candidate will have to face severe resistance from deracinated English Language media, Nehruvian establishment with possible active collaboration from their foreign sources. They are certain to run a shrill and vicious campaign against Modi to scare minorities, to drive a wedge between BJP and other NDA constituents. Another important argument against his candidature is acceptability for allies and other regional players. Let’s see why these arguments are highly exaggerated

Except for Nitish, no other NDA constituents expressed any reservations on Modi. Some hard facts on Nitish. He is in coalition with BJP with control over some 20 odd MPs with a decent governance record during his first tenure as Bihar CM. His opposition to Modi made him a darling of Delhi media and unfortunately let him nurture an exaggerated sense of importance. In 2010 landslide victory, the combined vote share of NDA in Bihar was still around 39% even after talk of good governance. So, Nitish is still far from political dominance of Bihar – Nitish needs BJP as much as BJP needs him. If he decides to move out of NDA just because of Modi, he potentially risks his government and may have to go for congress plus Paswan support to survive with thread bare majority. If BJP insists on Modi, Nitish most likely would make some noise but might still continue with BJP without endorsing Modi for PM.

Lets look at other prospective allies like TDP, BJD. TDP in Andhra is in volatile position and its very existence is challenged in Telangana region and in coastal Andhra / Rayalaseema it faces tough competition from Congress and YSR congress respectively. Even if he wins significant MP seats in coastal Andhra, Chandra Babu Naidu won’t dare to repeat the United Front experiment of 90’s with Congress support or support Congress at centre or risk another quick election. He will have no other option than to support anti-Congress formation. In Orissa BJP has significant vote share and it can win atleast half a dozen MP seats on its own in a Modi wave. So, the focus of BJP should be to win at least 180 seats on its own, if it reaches that target then getting support from anti-congress regional players is not a difficult task even with Modi at the helm.

If BJP has to improve from his present tally to reach 180 mark, it needs credible leadership at the centre who can rally support and create confidence in cadre and masses. As of now only Modi fits the bill with his popularity, track record and excellent leadership skills. Declaring his PM candidature unambiguously before election will enthuse rank and file of BJP and Parivar like never before. If BJP doesn’t declare any PM candidate, then the same pro-establishment media, whom BJP suspect of mischief with Modi candidature, will highlight the confusion and internal power struggles within BJP. In spite of repeated experiences it would be foolishness on the part of BJP to expect support from pro-establishment media and motivated activists. Coming to minority polarization, BJP in any case has no chance of getting minority votes, enthused Hindu activist counter-mobilization on the ground and Modi’s OBC background could many times offset any potential increase in minority voting percentages.

If BJP as a party really wishes to change the contours of Indian polity, economy and society, then it has no short cuts to achieve it, it has to summarily defeat anti-national & anti-BJP establishment or make them irrelevant. Pussyfooting and incremental politics will only encourage these forces to attack it more virulently.

In the context of Gujarat, Modi made anti-national forces irrelevant while successfully presenting alternative models before Gujarat and nation. It’s time for BJP to extend the success in Gujarat across the country and who else in BJP can do that, better than Modi. If Modi with a exemplary track record in government, can replicate his Gujarat magic across country in spite of severe opposition from pro-establishment media & activists, then in a single stroke he would make these forces irrelevant across the country, going by his track record he has all the potential to do that.

Even if BJP with Modi at the helm crossing congress tally fall short of required numbers, with non-congress, non-BJP, parties holding balance to power, leading to a third front government with outside support from congress, an arrangement similar to United Front experiment in 90’s, Modi will still be an ideal choice to lead BJP in parliament and with the inevitability of failures of such arrangements could emerge with more vigor as an alternative promising leader. Look anyway there is no alternative to Modi in BJP scheme of things, the sooner BJP and Parivar realizes the better for their electoral prospects and to the interests of the country. BJP has to go through Modi phase to continue to be relevant in national politics. Any attempt to limit him to Gujarat on the pretext of allies would severely boomerang and confuse the rank and file of BJP and Parivar. Alternatively, if he comes to national stage as BJP president, will that be alright for allies like Nitish? Won’t they lose minority votes then? Can Nitish stop BJP President from campaigning in Bihar?

Finally, no one knows what is in store for people of India in the coming months, election results in March could bring worst out of this evil, vicious establishment. Country is under undeclared emergency like situation with establishment undermining institutions, individual rights and freedom of speech. Going by the trends the establishment may go to any lengths to secure their position, India may witness bitter struggle against this dictatorial establishment in near future. Who else is better placed to lead BJP and country in such a adverse situation other than Narendra Damodardas Modi?

Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad) : MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi of ‘MIM (Majalis Ittehadul Muslimin)’, a Muslim organization, has demanded to impose ban on processions taken out on Hindu festivals viz. ‘Ram-Navami’ and ‘Hanuman-Jayanti’. Hindu organizations are angered due to such demand by Owaisi. (In a country where Hindus are in majority, a Muslim MLA, demanding ban on processions taken out during Hindu festivals, indicates that Hindus are staying in Pakistan and not in India. Today, Muslims are demanding ban on Hindu processions; tomorrow, they will demand for demolition of Hindu temples and will, later, demand that Hindus should become either Muslims or leave their womenfolk behind. Lack of unity among Hindus is responsible for such situation and there is no alternative for Hindus to establish a Hindu Nation to change this situation. – Editor SP)

Owaisi’s anti-Hindu demand has been strongly condemned by Mr. Raja Singh, a councilor from Mangalhat area, Shiv Sena, all India Hindu Mahasabha, Janasangh Party, Ramrajya Parishad, ‘Shatdarshan’ Saints and religious leaders through releasing respective press releases. (Hindu organizations should not just stop at registering protest but they should form a strong expansive unification and create awe so that no Hindu-hater would dare to make such demand in future. – Editor SP)
On one hand, this anti-Hindu Muslim has made a demand to ban Hindu festivals and on the other hand, he has demanded assistance from the State Congress Government for celebration of ‘Milad-Un- Nabi’, a Muslim festival on large scale. Owaisi’s MIM party is a partner in ruling Congress-led front in A.P. Both the parties jointly rule Municipal Corporation of Bhagyanagar.(Owaisi seems to be quite sure that Congress Govt. in A.P. would take no action against him even if he does anything against Hindus; therefore, he can dare to say such things. In short, Hindus need to remember that under Congress regime, the way in which Hindus genocide took place in North, in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir, similar condition would be faced even in South. In old Bhagyanagar area, there is ‘goonda-raj (rule of criminals)’ of MIM. In this ‘goonda-raj’, Congress Govt. is playing equal part. Two years back, action of ‘MIM’ workers was the cause of riots in the old city. Mr. Raja Singh, the councilor of Bhagyanagar Municipal Corporation has stated that trying to create obstacles in processions of Hindus on ‘Ramnavami’ and Hanuman Jayanti by the Government will generate furor among Hindus and the Government would be responsible for the same.
Akbaruddin Owaisi’s statement has been strongly condemned by Shiv Sena, All India Hindu Mahasabha, Janasangh Party and Ramrajya Parishad in a joint meeting. If the Congress Government and MIM tried to cause obstacles, all organizations would take to road; but in any case, the procession would be taken out. No permission is required to be taken from anyone, says the joint circular letter issued by all parties. Mr. B. Mahesh Chander, the area-President of Shiv Sena chaired the meeting. The other participants of the meeting were B. Vishal Toshniwal, Bhagatram Agrawal, D. Devendra, Divyang Singh Lodh of Hindu Mahasabha, Damodar Reddy, Rajbhushan Rao, A. S. Prakash Rao and Pravin Soni etc.
Dr. Binduji Maharaj of ‘Shatdarshan Sant-Mahant Sangh’, a spiritual organization said in a meeting at ‘Nirmal Akhada’ of RSS that the demand made by Akbaruddin Owaisi was spreading venom in society and he should be arrested under National Security Act. Leaving such persons free, who are trying to provoke people, would disturb peace. Even during the program of‘Milad-un-Nabi’, watch should be kept over Owaisi.
BJP has also protested against the statement made by Owaisi and has said, “Statement made by Owaisi will cause rift between minority and Hindus. The State Government should take stringent action against Owaisi.” (Hindus should note that none of the parties barring Shiv Sena and BJP, has protested against the statement of Owaisi. Congress rulers and Opposition party viz. Telugu Desam are keeping quiet on the issue. Even powerful Hindu organizations like VHP and RSS are also keeping quiet. The Government has also imposed ban on performing ‘Maha-aarti’ and has deployed police force to implement the ban. Today, there is ban on ‘aarti’, ban on ringing bells in temple; tomorrow, these Hindu-hater rulers of Congress will issue a ‘fatwa’ that Hindus should adopt Islam. How long are Hindus going to tolerate such Congress rulers who are making them experience how living in Pakistan would be. Modi is potential PM candidate, says Gadkari

Ruling himself out as his party's prime ministerial candidate, BJP President Nitin Gadkari today favoured Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the top job and also promised to back his candidature as party chief.

"I will never be a candidate for PM nor will I topple anybody. Modi has good potential to be BJP president and PM," Mr Gadkari told a private news channel.

Mr Gadkari, whose term as the BJP president comes to an end in December, said he is not interested in an extension of his tenure. "I am ready to work as an ordinary party worker. I will support Narendra Modi to take over the mantle."

Dodging questions on who will be the party's likely choice for the PM's post, Mr Gadkari said, "BJP is not a proprietary party and we will decide the PM's candidate at the appropriate time."

When asked whether the BJP should now launch Mr Modi on the national stage, Mr Gadkari said, "Narendra Modi has very good potential to be both the BJP President and the PM."

Mr Modi might be the BJP's best bet for a prime ministerial candidate, however, the 2002 Gujarat riots remain the one big blemish on Mr Modi's career. Many say, the Gujarat Chief Minister's amity mission, a fast to promote communal harmony and open letters to the people of his state in September last year, was a careful image-altering exercise as he gets set for the national stage in the next Lok Sabha elections.

Mr Modi's sadbhavana fast was all about him. He was the actor, director and script writer of the show. There were no BJP flags, no hoardings with smiling faces of Vajpayee, Advani and Gadkari - signalling that there was room for just one leader at the top in the party. Modi took the head start saying two is a crowd.

The fast was a result of the Supreme Court transferring a Gujarat-riots-related case to a lower court in the state, following which Narendra Modi tweeted, "God is Great". Suddenly, from a US think tank to BJP patriarch LK Advani, there was talk about Narendra Modi, possible future Prime Minister.

Champions of 'Freedom of Expression' stand to get exposed as Salman Rushdie plans arrival to India

It could not have come for a worse time than this. Yesterday, India celebrated 'Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas' that is NRI day. And, a British Indian of International fame, a Booker Prize winning author, a son with Indian roots, Sir Salman Rushdie got invited for the Jaipur Literature Festival starting January 20th.

Salman Rushdie's 2nd book Midnight's Children had won the Booker Prize in 1981. However, his 4th book, The Satanic Verses was banned in India and several other countries under Islamic dominance for an alleged blasphemy against the Islamic Prophet. Even fatwahs were issued against him.

Interestingly, those who championed 'Freedom of Expression' when it came to the nude paintings of Hindu deities, especially female deities, painted by M F Hussain (who's a Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri), had become spectacularly mute when his book was banned. He visited India twice after that, with high security.

Now, his this visit comes in the backdrop of UP elections. Darul Uloom Devband, which could not tolerate its chancellor praising the Modi government for its exceptional development in Gujarat, has flexed its muscle and asked the government to ‘cancel his Visa’ as he has hurt the sentiments of Muslims (23 years ago).� All India Muslim Personal Law Board has also raised the same demand.

What is more remarkable is the reactions from different political parties. Congress' Rasheed Masood said that his Jaipur programme should be cancelled as it could generate reactions in view of the UP elections. RLD's Kaukab Hamid said that urgent action should be taken to stop his entry. SP's Ahmad Hasan said that Indian government has been appeasing anti-muslim forces across the world and his entry must be immediately stopped. Even BJP's Mukhtar Abbas Naqwi said that his arrival during election time was not proper and it won’t be wise to give him a Visa.

Sanjoy Roy, managing director of Teamworks Productions, which produces the Jaipur Literature Festival, said, "A literature platform like the Jaipur festival is a place for free speech in the best democratic traditions. In plural societies such as ours, it is imperative that we continue to allow avenues for unfettered literary expression".

Salman Rushdie, however, wrote on Twitter that he doesn’t even need a visa for coming to India.

But the episode has once again exposed the skewed standards that are applied on Muslim Sentiments and Hindu Sentiments in Hindu majority India. While a painter painting nude paintings of Hindu deities is awarded with top civilian honours, and whose death is termed as 'Great loss to nation' by the Prime Minister, while Indian government submits an affidavit in the Supreme Court questioning the existance of Shri Ram, and while an essay denigrating the characters of Sita and Shri Ram is taught in Delhi University, an author for apparently hurting Muslim sentiments through a book written in England, gets entire political class lobbying against him so as to cater to minority vote bank, and the activists who take immense pleasure in defending those who denigrate Hinduism, completely tight-lipped.

Batla House encounter genuine: Chidambaram:PC snubs Diggy, says no need to probe again

The two warring Congress leaders- Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and AICC General Secretary, in-charge-of Uttar Pradesh Digvijay Singh-came out in the open to contradict each other on the Batla House encounter, even at the cost of losing out on the Muslim vote in the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram refuted the claims of his arch-rival AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh by declaring that the Batla House encounter was a “genuine” encounter. His remarks, a reflection of “intellectual arrogance,” the charge made by Digvijay Singh earlier, puts not only his bitter rival Digvijay Singh in an embarrassment but also strikes at the minority appeasement policy practiced by the Congress in the Uttar Pradesh elections.

At a press conference, a day after Rahul Gandhi faced angry demonstrations in Azamgarh,where his effigy was burnt, Chidambaram ruled-out any “scope of reopening the matter,” denying that it was a “fake encounter,” the view articulated earlier by Digvijay Singh. The Congress, meanwhile, remained silent, preferring not to react on the issue.

Though Digvijay Singh tried his best to win over the youngsters, claiming that it was “stage managed ”and“ fake encounter,” the people were in no mood to forgive them. Interestingly, when Union Home Minister was grilled by the media persons on the same issue, Chidambaram maintained that it was a “genuine encounter.”

The issue is likely to snowball into a major controversy putting the Congress leadership in a dilemma on what line to take.

With Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh raking up the Batla House encounter issue, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday hit out at the former and accused him of being sympathetic towards 'extremist militants'.

"He is not sympathetic to the martyred police officer, but sympathises with extremist militants. This is also an insult to the Muslim community. We feel that extremism has no religion, but they connect Muslims with extremism. This is Digvijay's politics," said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.

Digvijaya Singh had earlier said that the encounter was fake, and added it could not be probed, as the Prime Minister and Home Minister believed the encounter was true.

"The prime minister and home minister were of the view that the encounter was true. That's why I did not press it further," he said.

Batla House encounter officially known as Operation Batla House, took place on September 19, 2008, against suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists in Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi, in which two suspected terrorist, Atif Amin and Mohamed Sajid, two other suspects Mohd Saif and Zeeshan were arrested, while one accused Ariz Khan managed to escape.

A Muslim Terrorist threw black ink at Baba Ramdev's face

A Muslim man named Kamran Sidduqi threw black ink on the face of yoga guru Baba Ramdev as he was holding a press conference on black money and corruption at the Constitutional Club here on Saturday. A nonplussed Ramdev remarked later, "What have I done to deserve this?"

The offender was caught and roughed up by Ramdev's supporters. He was repeatedly slapped and he bled from the mouth.

The person has been identified as Kamran Siddiqui. He is a NGO worker and was offended by Ramdev's remark about Batla encounter.

Reacting after the incident, Ramdev said he had asked for the black money being returned to the country and instead got black ink.

"Those who fight for truth have to pay the price. We are fighting to get black money back to the country and instead I got black ink...What did I do to deserve this?" Ramdev said to reporters later.

"This incident wont' affect me. We will continue to fight against the odds, come what may," he added.

THE TEXT SAYS:

"Before the incident, Siddiqui had sought Ramdev's opinion on the 2008 Batla House encounter in which suspects of the Delhi serial blasts were killed. The yoga guru had ignored the question and soon after the attack took place".

Now the questions is: would anyone ask for apples in a Fish Market? Or go to a Bata Shoe Store and ask for a lingerie.

When the meeting is revolving around eradicating corruption from public places, then how come suddenly "Batla house encounter crop up from nowhere?"

Baba Ram Dev (Ramakrishna Yadav) is not obliged to answer all....right? So, on what grounds this mentally deranged fool throw black ink on Baba? This could have incited communal violence ins sensitive place like Delhi, where there is sizable Muslim population!!

What I feel is that some terrible people are running NGOs in India, these days. It is high time GOI takes a close re-look as to who are running these "demonic NGOs" and what is the real motives for such activities.

Or else the days are not far, when some anti-social NGOs will become the lynchpin of terrorist attacks in India.

Christians Given 3 Days to Leave North Nigeria or Face Death

The militant Islamist group, Boko Haram, has issued a chilling warning to all Christians in northern Nigeria, giving them three days to leave or face further extensive attacks.

The violence in Nigeria by Boko Haram has led to a stiff ultimatum by the group, which has warned that it is ready to confront soldiers sent to engage them under a state of emergency declared by Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan.

“We will confront them squarely to protect our brothers,” said Abul Qaqa, spokesperson of Boko Haram, according to CNN.

He also called for Muslims living in southern Nigeria to come back to the north, citing evidence that they could be attacked.

President Jonathan declared a state of emergency Saturday in areas of Nigeria infected with violent Islamist insurgency. He shut down borders with Cameroon, Chad and Niger in the northeast, according to Reuters. The state of emergency was announced in response to multiple violent attacks aimed at Christians in Nigeria, including a Christmas day attack that left 37 people dead and 57 wounded.

Boko Haram, which is reported to have ties with al-Qaida, has claimed responsibility for the killings. In response President Jonathan has vowed to “crush” the group, according to MSNBC. He said they began as a harmless group, but has now grown cancerous.

Shehu Sani, a human rights activist, has told CNN that Boko Haram’s threats are credible, but has warned that northern Christians have nowhere else to go after being born and raised in the area. Sani said that killings will continue and Boko Haram will simply move its violence to areas not yet affected to bypass the state of emergency.

Sani feels that the state of emergency and enhanced presence of security forces will not help decrease the violence, and he has accused troops of being involved in human rights abuses and doing little to reduce the violence.

Nigeria, which has nearly an equal balance of Christians and Muslims, is split between a predominantly southern Christian population and a northern Islamic population. Boko Haram and Islamic groups in the north claim they have been starved of resources and marginalized by the government of Christian president, Goodluck Jonothan, according to CNN.

Boko Haram, which means “Western civilization is forbidden,” wants an imposition of Islamic Shariah law across Nigeria.

David Cook, of Rice University, who has studied the rise of Boko Haram, has claimed that radical Muslim violence could take hold of the country and eventually spark a civil war in Nigeria, a top oil producer and Africa’s most populated nation.

It reminds me the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus. Muslims are same and they are terrorist whether in India or Nigeria.

On January 4, 1990 Aftab an Urdu daily of Srinagar published a press release from Hizbul Mujahdeen asking Kashmiri Hindus to leave Kashmir or face annihilation. Alsafa another Urdu newspaper repeated these warnings. On January 19, 1990 JKF, Hizbul-Mujahdeen and other terrorist outfits declared the introduction of Nizam-e-Mustafa (Islamic rule) in Kashmir.

On the night of January 19, 1990 all mosques in the valley began to issue threats and warnings to Kashmiri Hindus with loudspeakers broadcasting taped messages, continuously for 24 hours for three consecutive days creating a psychosis of fear and doom.

“Kashmir mein agar rehna hai; Allah-o-Akbar Kehna hai” ( If you want to live in Kashmir you will have to convert and chant Allah-o-Akbar)

“Asi gachchi Pakistan; Batao roas te Batni san” (We want Pakistan with Kashmiri Hindu women but without their men folk)

“Yhan kya chalega; Nizame Mustafa” ( What kind of law will work here Islamic law)

These threats led to the exodus of 350,000 Kashmiri Hindus form the valley ensuring complete Islamization.

Poem Silent Cry

The story told by a voice mystical, to a child young for the very first time… The air about him had a choking sensation, he could only gasp a longing undescribable…

His heart pained his soul cried, to no avail, for deafness was in the skies… His mind envisioned the beauty of such, the martyrdom of two princes whose valour he could only think of.

He recalls that magical day, in “Sirhind” did his heart lay… His silence broken as the wind blew, as if indicating a longing to be fulfilled.

He looked up, the sun shined strong, but he felt in his Heart, that something was wrong…

He remembers the tale vividly clear, two young princes, appearing before “Baizid Khan”. Their stride elegant, their beauty pure, as ‘lions’ did they enter their battle field.

Baizid Khan the Governor of Sirhind, startled… Could not believe his eyes. Two young playful aged Princes, stood before him fearlessly tall.

Baizid Khan tried all tactics, to convert the young Princes to Islam,

” Accept Islam!, he said, the riches of the world will be thine, the beautiful maidens will be thine, you will live a life, of bliss for all time”…

Did speak the princes to Baizid Khan,

” We the Sons of a Lion, His name thou know as Guru Gobind Singh Ji, We the grandsons of selfless sacrifice, His name thou know as Guru Teg Bahadur Ji,

We the great grandsons of a saint and soldier, The ordainer of Miri-Piri, know Thee him as Guru Hargobind We the great great grandsons of a Martyr, of Divine Love Thou knowest him as Guru Arjun Dev Ji.

The eyes of Guru Nanak, speaketh to thee Baizid Khan, we do not prize this materialistic world… Our Khalsa is our Life, it is the will of the Lord, Thou do what thy please, we accept not Islam, for we are the Sons of Khalsa, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.”

He recalls such valour, the amazement of the people in attendance, they could not believe what they saw, two Princes aged 6 and 8, fearlessly confronting, Baizid Khan…

After all efforts failed Baizid Khan… Did speak, Diwan Sucha Nand, a Hindu by faith, a devil at heart… He spoke a curse, that went against all teachings, of this, only God knew of …

Sucha Nanda spoke… ” Baizid Khan, The serpent (Guru Gobind Singh Ji) we see, has caused thee much trouble, and he is but only one… The young serpents of such poison, if thee let live, will one day cause such upheaval the world has not seen of…”

The Quazi spoke, ” Baizid Khan… The two you see before thee, are a determent to Islam, it is thy duty to fulfil. I order the sentence, that they should be executed at once…”

He recalls, the cheerful look, the smile, on the faces of the two young Princes… They spoke… The court and those in attendance,
looked on in awe…

” Quazi! Is that all you can do?!, We fear not death, We keep it with us, wherever we go… Quazi, commence thy sentence at once!”

He recalls the poetic picture, of such, he can not describe… The two princes standing tall, amongst a wall of blood-thirsting-bricks. A house of Khalsa, he saw being built, the foundation supported by sacrifice, He saw the blood of such fragrance, the wind within forever carries with time…

He remembers such bravery, The brick at the knee of the prince was to be placed. The brick layer saw that the prince’s flesh was in the way, so he broke a brick to bypass the flesh.

To such did speak, with such valour prince Zorawar Singh.

“Thou art building the house of the Khalsa, what are thy doing?!. The foundation must be fully completed. Remove the flesh that is in thy way, for the house of the Khalsa must be of unbroken bricks.” His spine shivered, when such words were spoken, Only then… did he understand, the glory of this sacrifice.

He looked up into the now dying sun, He knew now that the heavens were still… The two Princes that God had ordained, had gone back to their Godly domain.

Of such sacrifice did he witness, Of which will never be surpassed ever again, may God be witness to such a claim…

Vedic Physical Sciences and Scientific Temper

The following observations of eminent/great scientists would appear as if Vedas are being retold.
1. J.C. Bose found with the help of gross instruments in the laboratory some kind of “fatigue” in metal just like human beings. Gross atoms even in an inanimate thing are born, develop and lose vitality and die. They have mind of their own.

2.Einstein confirmed in the laboratory the Flux observed earlier by Vedic rsi of yore Kanad and later by Buddha. According to Einstein most of the particles in the sub atomic world live for short period of a small fraction of a nano of a second and change to other particles, while some of those behaving like waves and wavicles. This Flux in atoms is a continuous process. Einstein also made certain metaphysical observations like God does not play dice and in all probabilities God has kept some “hidden variable” responsible for this activity.

3. Isaac Newton in spite of his so many discoveries relating to light, gravitation, laws of motion, certain mathematical laws etc, was still having a feeling that some thing was missing in his discoveries. He wrote in the Optick ” … does it not appear that there is a supreme Being, incorporeal, living, intelligent, omnipresent who in infinite space sees the things themselves intimately and thoroughly, perceives them and comprehends them wholly by their immediate presence to Himself.”

Even now many scientists have a feeling that there is some thing beyond sub-atomic particles in the atoms that make these tiny invisible balls to move at a great speed but refusing to link with metaphysics. According to them matter has very little material atoms but contains largely atoms of Dark matter and has Dark energy. This term Dark relates to what the scientists have not been able to find so far in their laboratory, which Vedic Rsis/Munnies could find by communicating with their souls (atma).

The Vedas combine science with metaphysics and clearly mention that it is God who is the giver of knowledge of all sciences as “Sahstra sam ” (R.V. 1-10-11). The scientists are advised to study cause and effect of all material elements and also how the objects are produced and there after utilize these properly (R.V. 5-47-3). By following these guidelines they can alleviate much suffering of the people (R.V. 5-77-4). Without the knowledge and practical application of physical sciences, it is not possible to eradicate poverty and attain prosperity (R.V. 1-34-1 to 5).

In the Rig-Veda the focal point is the human being and the knowledge about physical sciences contained there in is for the welfare of the entire mankind. This knowledge also helps the human beings to develop Scientific Outlook.

To get a feel of Vedic physical sciences, reference to a few hymns are given in the very beginning. The Sun never sets or rises and it is the earth, which rotates (Sama Veda121). The gravitational effect of solar system makes the earth stable (R.V.1-103-2, 1-115-4 and 5-81-2). The subtle axle of the earth does not get rusted and the earth continues to revolve on its axle (R.V. 1-164-29). The science of Time and its subtle nature is described in (R.V.1-92-12 and 1-95-8). The need to study the properties of water, air and fire for discovering and manufacturing aircrafts, ships and other vehicles capable of moving in the firmament, land and water are mentioned in Rig Veda 1-3-1,2, 1-34-1, 1-140-1 and many other hymns.
Physical sciences relating to agriculture, medicine, astronomy mathematics particularly algebra, toxicology etc. are described in R.V.1-71-9, 4-57-5, Sama Veda 121 and many other hymns/riks.
For a better appreciation of Vedic science, a few terms used in the original Vedic bhasha (language) as contained in the mantras/riks are mentioned. Viman diye neshu for vehicles like aircrafts (RV 1-34-1, 9 and 1-85-7). Vaj gatau- very high-speed vehicles in the air (R.V 6-60-12). Rekha di ganit vidys vigyaya- the science of Algebra (R.V 1-19-1). Surya Vidyau tau- knowledge of the Sun and electricity. Indr-agani- power, energy and electricity (R.V 6-60-12, 13), krishna garbha- knower of Algebra (R.V 6-75-2). Vidyamadi bha vidyut vidyante yashate- in which electric telegraph wires have been arranged (R.V 1-88-1).

Many other terms and words relating to physical sciences can be found in these hymns like kanu, anu, bhutas, maha bhutas, tatva, maha tatva etc., The other terms have been used like Ratha for vehicles moving in the firmament and middle region, on the surface of the earth and over the water, ashvinau for scientists, anu and kanu for gross and subtle atoms, tan matras for sub atomic particles sponda for sound etc. Few other words are amritasya nidhi – ambrosia (R.V. 1-186-3), Brahamand pinda i.e macrocosm and microcosm. In Yajur Veda 18-24 and 25 many terms relating to addition, subtraction, division, square, cube, square root, and cube root have been used. Yajur Veda 18-22 and R.V. 6-22-2 also refer to certain other terms of the physical sciences.
In the Vedas scientists (ashvinaus) are described as men and women of absolute self-control, truthful with scientific outlook and destroyers of miseries (R.V., 1-3-4). With the help of these scientists one could travel far on the earth and also in the sky through conveyances, which run and touch the middle region (R.V., 1-3-1, 6-22-2 and 1-22-2).
Such scientists from both the sexes go across to distance places quickly like the mind and electricity (R.V., 1-71-9). In this hymn aircrafts and even space ships are hinted. These ashvinaus should be well versed in Physics, agricultural sciences (R.V. 4-57-5), medical sciences (R.V. 5-74-3), astronomy (S.V. 121) and other sciences.
There is a mention of infrared rays, study of Algebra (Rekha di ganit vidya), sound as a medium of knowledge for various sciences, diseases like bile, cough, jaundice and others and their treatment etc. The relevant hymns in this regard are in Rig-Veda 1-185-2, 1-12-1, 2, 1-22-1 to 4, 1-2-3, 1-95-1, 1-101-1 and many other.

Pak flag hoisted in Karnataka town on New Year

Tension prevailed in Sindgi town near here after it came to the notice of locals that a Pakistani flag had been hoisted on the premises of the Tahsildar's office on Sunday, police said.

Soon after receiving the message, police went to the town, about 60 km from here, and seized it from the flag-pole, SP Rajappa said.

An irate mob pelted stones at two buses and showed signs of intensifying the protest. However, police brought the situation under control, he said, adding the situation was now peaceful.

The flag was hoisted at midnight while people were celebrating new year in the town, Rajappa said and added that locals allegedly tried to manhandle him as well.

Police have taken some persons into custody for inquiry and but no arrest had been made, he said.
Muslims can never be our own. They were traitors, they are traitors and will remain the same. If they can dare to hoist Pakistani flag in villages in Karnataka, Assam, Srinagar without any hurdle, they are not far away from hoisting it on Lal-Qila. They are well in advanced phase of controlling our existence. They are spreading in every nook and corner like wild fire. Karnataka is a BJP ruled state and they really don't give a shit about people in power. They are doing things at their will without caring for any action cause they know no-one can dare to touch them. We are spineless,hapless and silent watchers. This paki-flag hoisting is a direct challenge to all the Hindus on new year eve.

Being a Hindu in Pakistan

It’s not easy these days being a Hindu in Pakistan. The number of cases of members of the Hindu community being kidnapped for ransom is on the rise, both in Sindh and in Balochistan. While recently attending a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee for Law and Justice, I realised that a stringent law was already in place under which a person convicted of this offence could be sentenced to life in prison or even death. As usual, the discussion revolved around the fact that while we had good laws, they were not being implemented.

Personally, I am against capital punishment — and the logic is quite straightforward: since we don’t give life, we have no right to take it away. And hence life imprisonment is acceptable but not capital punishment. However, the rise in cases of kidnapping, often of children, has altered this view. Those who kidnap people for ransom need to be dealt with a heavy hand, more so because in Pakistan where we hardly ever see anyone punished for this crime. In August, before the floods had hit Sindh, I visited a Hindu Sindhi family in Kashmore whose six-year-old had been kidnapped. The state of the mother was enough to convince me to press for severe punishment as a deterrent to stop this kind of crime.

I was told that Hindus were being targeted because, by and large, they lacked political clout and made for easier targets. Furthermore, those involved in kidnapping for ransom often had connections to powerful people, and this explained why, in most instances, the kidnappers were never caught.

The tragedy is that as a result of these kidnappings, many Hindu families have migrated to India. After all, it is better to live in another country than in perpetual fear. This is the biggest failure of the so-called Islamic Republic of Pakistan — that its minorities don’t feel safe on their own soil.

Clearly, the government’s package, called ‘Aghaz-e-Huqooq Balochistan’ has not achieved much in that province. For instance, in 2009 a 13-year-old was kidnapped and released after a ransom of Rs1.8 million was paid. Another Hindu was kidnapped from the busy Sariab road and released after a ransom of Rs4.2 million was paid. A Hindu man was kidnapped and released after his family paid Rs1.5 million. A Hindu shopkeeper was asked to pay Rs6million at which point he migrated to India — this happened in August of this year. And this is just a partial list.

The Hindu community is peaceful — so what is its biggest sin? It is a minority in a land where there is no rule of law. All that is needed is the political will to go after those involved in these kidnappings — the incidents will stop and our Hindu compatriots will stop fleeing to India.

Beef served as Lunch to humiliate Hindus, Protest spreads in Bangladesh

Sylhet Govt Agragami Girls' High School’s 108^th anniversary was celebrated on 23th December 2011.

The school was founded by Devi Chowdurani,a Hindu.

But as shylet is a strong base of Fanatic Muslim having the tomb of Shah Jalal,an Islamic terrorist who conquered Shylet from the then hindu king Gour Gabinda in the 1300s, the muslims played a heinous job. They served beef in the programme as lunch to humiliate the hindus.

It is no longer a secret (nothing unusual to hear also!) that beef is made use of to humiliate, persecute and also convert Hindus throughout the length and breadth of Bengal but what is most striking that the same is being done openly in schools even!

Protest broke all over Shylet. The school authority apologizes for the act. Leaders of Bangladesh hindu buddhist christian unity council, Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM) arranged Human Chain in protest of this act by the muslims. They demanded ban of beef as lunch in any programme in Bangladesh.

The prosecutors had asked for a ban on the Russian translation of ‘Bhagavad Gita As It Is’ written by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson Attacked by Racist Muslims!

Last night English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson was attacked and beaten up by a gang of “Asians”. The following report just came in from a source in the EDL:

He was out driving, when he saw a car similar to his wife’s, driven by a blond white girl. The other car flashed its lights so Tommy pulled over.

A group of Pakistani youths wearing knuckle dusters poured out. Tommy was knocked out pretty quickly, and they gave him a good kicking.

He looks pretty beaten up, but no bones were broken, and no eyes or teeth are missing. He had a brain scan this morning. We don’t know the results yet.

He has spoken to The Sun, who asked whether he had called the police. Tommy said there was no point, as a racial attack on a white guy was of no interest to them.

That’s all the information I have at the moment. If anything further comes in, I’ll post it.

As the vile thugs carried out this racist attack they were shouting, “Allah akbar and Merry Christmas Tommy.”

Our thoughts are with Tommy and his family during this tough time, a time which should be happy but has been devastated by thuggish invaders who would like to see Christmas eradicated from Britain.

RSS' Magic - Kashmiri Muslims call for revoking article 370, taking back PoK and CAK

For over eight decades, RSS has been working for empowering India with a nationalist agenda despite all the calumny against it. A fresh example of the same has appeared with reference to Kashmir. Some would know that Indresh Kumar, a senior RSS functionary, who’s been with the RSS since 1959, had founded Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), an organisation of nationalist Muslims with a motive to bring Muslims in national mainstream. Indresh Kumar, who graduated with highest honours from Punjab Engineering College in Mechanical Engineering, didn’t take up a job to serve the nation. MRM has been the result of his tireless efforts and commitment towards the nation. However, his efforts and accomplishments were never reported by the mainstream media. If at all they were reported, that was in a demeaning manner. MRM had in the past collected the signatures of a million muslims to oppose cow-slaughter. But terrified of the growing influence of an RSS functionary among Muslims, Congress led government tried to frame him in the Mecca Mosque blast case and used the CBI for the same. This all notwithstanding, MRM’s activities went on and on, and now, the results are showing bright and beautiful.

“Scrap Article 370, ensure employment to Kashmiri youths, retrieve areas forcefully occupied by Pakistan and China in Kashmir”. These are not the demands voiced by Hindu organizations or it's leaders. These demands were raised publically and in unison by the Muslims of India on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Jantar-Mantar in New Delhi.

The occasion was culmination of “Hum Hindustani-Kashmir Hindustan Ka”, a unique campaign launched some three months ago by Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), an organization of nationalist Muslims of India. During the three-month campaign the MRM activists conducted prayers in mosques, convened seminars and meetings all over the country. The campaign concluded at New Delhi on December 18 in which nearly 10,000 Muslims drawn from 23 states and 175 districts of India participated braving the chilling cold and dense fog to raise these demands.

Initiating the discussion Mohd Farooq from Srinagar categorically stated that the Article 370 was the main problem of Jammu and Kashmir. This article should be removed. Even the common people were in favor of its removal, he stated. He also blamed Sheikh Abdulla and Pt. Nehru for the problems of Kashmir. Mushtaq Ahmed Pir from Baramulla expressed that politics would not solve the problems of the people of Kashmir neither the problems would be redressed by raising the tricolor in Lal Chowk. A different approach needed to resolve and redress the issues blocking progress of the state.

Bashir Ahmed, who started his speech with ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ stated demanded voting right for the refugees residing in Kashmir for the past six decades. Engineer Gulam Ali, who came from Bakkarwal community, blamed Sheikh Abdullah and Pt. Nehru for the present state of affairs in J & K. He said that the political leaders conspired against the Muslims of Jammu and heaped injustices against them.Demanding scrapping of Article 370, he added that this article helped only a handful of political leaders in the state. It has not done any good to the common masses, he added. Gulam Ali also demanded action on two resolutions adopted by the Parliament with regard to taking back the Indian territories forcefully occupied by Pakistan and China.

Halima, a sister from Kashmir called for steps to improve the economic condition of the common people in the state. Nazir Mir, who lost three of his brothers in terrorist violence said that political parties had been playing with the sentiments of the people. Denouncing the demand for ‘azadi’ Mir asked“who want ‘azadi’ when we are already ‘azad’? He said that we were associated with the Muslim Rashtriya Manch and would remain so.

Mufti maulana Abdus Saami voiced similar sentiments regarding Article 370. He said that this constitutional provision was solely responsible the problems of the state. Stalwarts like Maulana Hasrat Mohani, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai had opposed the inclusion of Article 370. But Pt Nehru insisted on its inclusion and in the following years political parties were using this provision for playing their political game. He praised the MRM for raising the issues related to border security for the first time. He assured that the Muslims in India would associated with the MRM and work under the guidance from Sri Indresh Kumar.

President of Jamat-e-Hind said that this program was organized to insure progress of the nation. The situation in our border regions was serious even after sixty years of independence. The MRM was the first Muslim organization to raise the issue of border security. Abbas Ali Bohra from Bangalore said that Muslims in south India were in solidarity with the nationalist Muslims of J & K. He urged the Muslims to unite under the banner of the MRM and give a befitting reply to those anti-national forces active in the Kashmir Valley.

Dr Salim Raj, Chairman of Haj Commmittee, Chhattisgarh said that Muslims were always patriotic in nature. He blamed the Congress for defaming the Muslims. Tanveer Ahmed, President of BJP Minority Morcha reminded the people the history of Kashmir problem. He said that the accession of Kashmir with India was ‘full and final’ when the Maharaja Hari Singh signed the “Instrument of Accession” on 26th October 1947. The problem of Kashmir was created by Pt Nehru when he declared one-sided ceasefire and took the issue to the UN. Quoting Rafi Ahmed Kidwai he said that Pt Nehru and his Congress were responsible for distorting the culture of Kashmir. He demanded implementation on Parliament resolutions.

Imran Ismail, Corporator from New Delhi It was Indresh Kumar, who stepped forward for helping the widows of Kashmir on whose appeal he took 724 sewing machines to Kashmir. Similarly during the earth quake, again it was Indresh Kumar who took initiative to organize help to Kashmiri victims. Not a single Muslims leader came forward to help the Muslims in Kashmir, Ismail said raising questions over attempts to bracket Indresh Kumar in terrorist activities. He blamed the political leaders for misleading Muslims regarding RSS and Hindu organizations and its leaders like Indresh Kumar. These parties and leaders have created an atmosphere of doubt about the Muslims also, he said and added that this needed to be removed once again.

Dr J K Jain of BJP said that the demand for autonomy for Kashmir was based on wrong premises. The Congress and other parties were trying to divide the society by spreading falsehood and misbelieve against each other.

Indresh Kumar, Patron of the Manch, who could not make it to the program as his train was running behind the schedule, addressed the gathering on mobile phone. He blamed the government for playing dangerous game by blaming innocent Muslims and patriotic Hindus by falsely implicating them in terrorist activities in the country. Indresh Kumar said the anti-India elements and political parties were trying to mislead people in Kashmir. He also demanded scrapping of Article 370 which drove a wedge between people of the same land. This Article spread hatred and divided people. The MRM would carry forward this view to generate national and patriotic fervor in the country. Referring to the presence of large number of Muslims from various parts of the country Indresh Kumar expressed confidence that this movement would usher in a new era of brotherhood, peace, love and mutual understanding among the people of this country.

On one hand we have so called secular political parties who’re all hell bent on abusing the Muslims like a vote bank and woo them by offering reservation. They’ve already divided the Hindus in the name of caste. On the other, we have RSS and its sister organisations which are working to eradicate caste-system from India and also integrate Muslims into mainstream nationalism.Those who are familiar with RSS volunteers or are associated with the activities undertaken by RSS’ sister organisations, have utmost respect for RSS. Millions of families are there whose kids have got education in schools run by RSS. It is for the media to show the truth, but when Media is itself marred with darkness (recall, Neera Radia tapes), then the lack of a nationalist media haunts the people. The people who want to break the nation, for their vote bank politics, or the so called intellectuals and mainstream media people have created a thick air of calumny against RSS obstructing the view of the common people, who’re not in direct or indirect contact with RSS’ and its sister organisations’ activities. They need to look beyond this evil design

Destruction of Hindu Temples in Bangladesh in 1989

Islamic reactionary forces went over a rampage all over Bangladesh starting in October 29, 1989. Their excuse was conducting of the Ayodhya shilanyas ceremony in India. Simply on this premise, Islamic fundamentalists attacked and burnt down Hindu homes and business establishments in many places, murdered some Hindus and inflicted injuries on many others. Hindu temples and monasteries invited their special attention. The mob fury reached its climax on November 9 and 10, 1989. Many temples were demolished or burnt down or damaged in various ways. Images of deities were broken and thrown out. Temple priests were beaten up. The Government of Bangladesh ignored these attacks for two weeks. Then it called off the attacks. It also ordered repairs to a dozen temples in a token attempt to show the international community its “secular credentials.” We reproduce below an English translation of the original listing published in Bengali by the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Unity Council, 53, Tejturi Bazar, Dhaka, Bangladesh is provided below. ( 4 ) In the market place of Bhelanagar near Narsingdi town a good number of shops were broken in and looted and some houses were set on fire on the same day.
( 5 ) In the town of Narsingdi, the Bhagbat Ashram was attacked on the same day.
( 6 ) The Kali Temple of Narsingdi town was attacked with arms on the same day.
( 7 ) On the 8th of November 1989, the Milan Kali Temple of Srirampur Bazar in the Raipur Upajila was attacked and the image of the deity broken up.
( 8 ) On the same day at the village of Hashimpur under Raipur Upajila many houses were attacked, looted, and set on fire.

District: Tangail
( 9 ) On November 10 and 11, 1989, in the town of Tangail several temples were attacked and set on fire, and many shops were looted.
( 10 ) In the village of Bajitpur near Tangail many houses belonging to the religious minorities were attacked, looted, and set on fire, and the temples and the images of the deities were broken up.
( 11 ) The temple in the village of Pakrail under Delduar Upajila was attacked, and acts of breaking up and setting on fire were carried out.
( 12 ) In several other villages under Delduar Union the temples were set on fire.
( 13 ) One temple in the village of Pakutia in Tangail was attacked, set on fire and destroyed.
( 14 ) House to house attacks were made on the traditional makers of handloom sarees belonging to the members of religious minorities in the village of Bajitpur, and their handlooms were destroyed.
( 15 ) In the village of Akua in Tangail a temple was destroyed and its foundations removed.
( 16 ) A similar incident took place in the village of Kalihat.
( 17 ) Mr. Dinesh Ch. Basak, deputy chief medical officer of the Meghna Textile Mills, under Bangladesh Textile Industry Corporation, died on November 10 in Tongi. The Mill authorities sent his body to Tangail for cremation, and there a group of miscreants attacked the car carrying the dead body. They also obstructed carrying out of the cremation.

District: Moulavi Bazar
( 18 ) On November 10, 1989, in the District of Moulavi Bazar, at Srimangal Upajila several temples including Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaleswari Kali-Bari, Durga Bari, jagannath-Dev's Akhra, and Kalachand Mandir were attacked, broken in, and set on fire. At present no temple exists at Srimangal.
( 19 ) On November 10, 1989, the Ramakrishna Mission in the city of Moulavi Bazar was attacked and burnt down.
( 20 ) On the same day several Hindu houses and shops in the Srimangal Upajila were attacked, structurally damaged and looted. This happened in front of the officers responsiblele for law and order.

District: Naogaon
( 21 ) On November 10, 1989, several temples in the city of Naogaon were attacked and structurally damaged.
( 22 ) Fear and panic spread in the Hindu villages near the city of Naogaon and many villagers went into hiding for fear of life or prosecution.

District: Sirajganj
( 23 ) On November 11, 1989, at dusk, attackers as a large group emerged from a mosque at Chanyaikona in Upajila Raigarh with agitating slogans, and they attacked many nearby shops and residential places.

District: Rangpur
( 24 ) On November 10, 1989, Friday at 4 pm in the city of Rangpur a huge group in a procession shouting slogans with excitement went on attacking places of worship belonging to the minority communities.
( 25 ) On the same day, the famous Rangpur Dharma Shava building at the Station Road was attacked and severely damaged.
( 26 ) The main Kali Temple in Rangpur known as Sri Sri Karunamoyee Kali-Bari was attacked.
( 27 ) Sri Sri Anandamoyee Ashram at College Road was attacked and massively damaged.

District: Netrokona
( 28 ) The Kali Mandir at Bara Bazar in the city of Netrokona was attacked, looted, structurally damaged and set on fire.

District: Magura
( 29 ) In Magura Sadar Upajila, Bagia Union, at Bagia Thakur bari at the performance of Puja in the jagadhatri Temple on November 6, 1989, armed attacks were made, Ranjit Roy and jagadish Roy were killed, and the image of the deity was broken up and thrown away. The seriously wounded Samar Roy had to be transferred to the Hospital for Disabled in Dhaka.

District: Barishal
( 30 ) On November 15, in the city of Barishal, the temple of Chandan Nagar Para was attacked, broken up and set on fire.
( 31 ) On November 2, in the village of Dhamura in Uzirpur Upajila, a Kali Temple was attacked by an armed group led by Haji Mobasharuddin at 8 pm, the image of the deity was broken up and thrown away, and the temple was set on fire.
( 32 ) On November 17, the Hindu Hostel under B.M. College was attacked and students were indiscriminately beaten up and forced out of the Hostel.
( 33 ) On November 13, at the Sadar Betagi Upajila, temples were broken in and shops belonging to Hindu community were looted. in Agoyeeljhara, the Kali Mandir was destroyed and the image of the deity disappeared.

District: Chittagong
( 34 ) On November 10, in the city of Chittagong, procession took place shouting communal slogans.
( 35 ) In Raujan Upajila at the jagatpur Ashram, attacks were made.
( 36 ) At the historic Kaibalyadham Ashram in Chittagong, attacks were made.
( 37 ) At the village of Sadhanpur and Lankarchar in Patia Upajila some 25 temples were attacked and set on fire and the images of the deities in these temples were broken. Many houses and shops belonging to the members of minority communities were attacked and looted.
( 38 ) In the villages of Uttar Satta and Fate Nagar in Raujan Upajila, and in Nanupur, Badtapur, S. Rosong Giri and Ajadi Bazar under Fatikchar Upajila, several temples were attacked.
( 39 ) On October 29 and 31, in the village of Unainagar, Patia Upajila, on the Chittagong-Kox's Bazar Highway, a bus was stopped and the Buddhist and Hindu passengers were beaten up. In many Buddhist temples the statues of Buddha were broken up.
( 40 ) Under Raujan Upajila in the village of Gujra on October 29 and November 9, the Jalakumari House, RadhaGobinda Ashram and other temples were attacked and set on fire repeatedly.
( 41 ) The Kali Temple of Bashkhali Upajila was attacked.
( 42 ) On November 10, in the region called Patenga Kathghar many Hindu families abandoned their homes for fear of communal persecution. In the city of Sandwip the images of the deities in the Jagannath-Bari, KaliBari, and Char-Ani Shidheswari Kali-Bari were broken up and scattered.

District: Cox's Bazar
( 43 ) Many temples in the various Upajilas of Kox's Bazar were attacked.

District: Noakhali
( 44 ) In the city of Hatia several temples were attacked. In Bazar under Begumganj Upajila the Hari Mandir was destroyed.

District: Jamalpur
( 45 ) The temple at Basakpara in the city of Jamalpur was destroyed.

District: Chandpur
( 46 ) On November 10, at the Purana. Bazar area in the city of Chandpur many shops and businesses and many temples in the suburb of Chandpur were attacked. The temple of Raja Lakshmi-Narayan in Habiganj has been destroyed.

District: Nilfamari
( 47 ) In Saidpur area many temples have been attacked and severely damaged.

District: Jhalakati
( 48 ) On November 9, in the city of Jhalakati almost all temples and the houses and shops belonging to the members of the minority communities were attacked.
( 49 ) The quarters and a temple belonging to the famous folk poet (Charan Kabi) Mukunda Das was attacked and broken up.

District: Narayanganj
( 50 ) On November 10, the Ramakrishna Mission and several shops belonging to the members of minority communities were attacked.

District: Dhaka
( 51 ) Several temples in Dhamrai and Savar were attacked. On November 10, at night, the Dhaka Ramakrishna Mission was attacked. In Demra an ancient cremation structure has been destroyed. In Lalbag police station in Nagar-Bel-Tali Rishi-Para several shops and businesses were attacked, looted and structurally damaged.

District: Laksmipur
( 52 ) On November 14, 1989, in the Union of Charbadarn, Char Alexander, Char Algi and Hajarihat under Raingati Upajila, some 36 houses, shops and businesses belonging to the minority communities were attacked, looted and set on fire, and women were raped and rendered destitute. Besides these, some 11 temples were attacked and destroyed by fire including the temple of Rama-Thakur and Ashrarm of Burakarta.

District: Sylhet
( 53 ) The historic Akhra of Mahaprabhu in Chhatak was attacked, the statue of the Mahaprabhu was broken, and damages were done to the Akhra.

District: Khulna
( 54 ) On November 17, 1989, in the city of Khulna, Dharma Shava Temple, Koylaghat Kalibari, Barabazar Kalibari, and many other temples were attacked and set on fire. At the corner of Barabazar and Picture Palace all shops and businesses belonging to the Hindu community were looted. in the localities inhabited by many Hindus including Tutpara, Baniakhamar and Banargati, armed attacks were made and acts of looting, breaking-in and setting-on-fire were carried out.

District: Bagerhat
( 55 ) On November 17, 1989, the entire temple complex at the Ramakrishna Mission in Bagerhat including Hari Mandir was attacked and structures and the statue of Ramakrishna were broken up. Besides these attacks, acts of destruction were carried out on Fatehpur Kalibari, Bemta Kali Temple, Giletala Hari and Kali temples, Karapara Kali Temple, and Patarpara Kali Temple, and a famous black-stone Siva-Linga was looted.

District: Mymensingh
( 56 ) Hindu houses in the vicinity of the Zamidar-Bari of Muktagachha were attacked with arms and looted, and acts of breaking-up were carried out.

District: Feni
( 57 ) On November 9, in the Union of Radhanagar, and on November 14 in the Union of Dhalia, under Chhagal Naiya Upajila, temples were attacked and acts of breaking up were carried out.
( 58 ) In the village of Char Sonapur under Sonagachhi Upajila, a temple was attacked and acts of breaking-up carried out on Novemnber 12. In the villages of Desherhat and Semerkhil several temple statutes were broken up.
( 59 ) The image of Goddess Kali in the village of Hirapur in Daganbhuia Upajila was broken up.
( 60 ) In the village of Daulatpur under Feni Police Station the image of Goddess Kali was broken up.
( 61 ) The image of Goddess Kali in the temple of Dakshineswari at Shubhapur Bazar in Chhagal Naiya, was broken up and the place was looted an set on fire.

District: Bhola
( 62 ) On November 17, in the city of Bhola, several shops belonging to the religious minorities were attacked and money was collected through threats of violence.

District: Comilla
( 63 ) On November 11, at Muradpuri under Sadar Upajila, a temple was destroyed. In the village of Ramaganj a similar incident happened.
( 64 ) On November 11, at the festival of Rama-Thakur in the city of Comilla, attacks were made using stones and bricks and several people were injured.
( 65 ) On November 12, a Kali Temple in the village of Gahinkhali under Barmbara Upajila was set on fire. Under Muradnagar Upajila at Ramachandrapur Bazar, a temple was totally destroyed.

District: Brahmanbaria
( 66 ) In the village of Shyamgram and Srigrarn under Nabinagar Upajila several temples were attacked.

District: Madaripur
( 67 ) On November 11, the HariTemple of Puranabazar in the city of Madaripur was broken up and a procession against the religious minorities was taken out.
( 68 ) The Dhamusa's Ashram of Kalkini was broken up.

District: Munshiganj
( 69 ) The Kali Temple at Baligaon was broken up.

District: Manikganj

A Siberian court is to decide on banning the Bhagavad Gita, based on complaints that the text, distributed locally by Iskcon, apparently 'advocates war' and forms 'extremist literature'. This case reflects a deep mis- understanding of the Gita - and possibly severe anxieties within Russian society.

In a recent interview to The Times of India, outgoing Delhi Metro chief E Sreedharan said the Gita was the ultimate 'administrator's handbook', illuminating a calm and clear way forward through the pettifogging of relationships, desires and fears. The Gita obviously has many facets and can mean different things to different people. But " extremist literature"?

At its simplest, the Bhagavad Gita, 18 chapters nestled within the epic Mahabharata, is the story of Krishna advising Arjuna, facing kin in battle, on how to proceed. Hearing the overwrought warrior's fears, Krishna tells Arjuna he must walk the path of moral correctness and do his duty by humanity, not be bound by the ties of love, fear and pride we battle continually in life.

These are ephemeral, transient and meaningless, says Krishna; the truth is the divine, literally larger than life, despite all of life's beguiling colours and its devastating sadness. It is to fight life's illusions and find the path of truth that is the 'battle' Krishna elaborates on. Voiced by the one termed ran-chor, he who escaped battle, any correct interpretation of the Gita cannot find the text advocating physical warfare.

However, it is simple to be confused by the Gita. It was the intriguing quality of this text, a complex piece of philosophy within an extremely human story, delving into the mind's deepest recesses, its shallowest instincts, which impressed numerous Europeans. The first British Governor General of India, Warren Hastings, had the ancient text translated to English in 1785. Thereafter, from American scholar Ralph Waldo Emerson to Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung, Western thinkers immersed themselves in the Gita, its layers reflecting the difficulties - and ultimate simplicity - of human life.

Before them, non-Hindus too found the Gita an absorbing text. Pakistani scholar Akbar S Ahmed illustrates how the 17th century Mughal prince Dara Shikhoh was so enamoured by the Gita translated to Persian that some feared he had turned apostate. The prince however knew what complainants in Siberia don't-the Gita transcends religion.

In its discussion of universal human values, it escapes the pettiness of caste or creed, Krishna mentioning that a human being is defined by deeds, not birth. It is to his duty a person's loyalty truly lies.

Yet, it is precisely the fears that Gita seems to have touched on. Academic Madhavan Palat, an eminent expert on Soviet history, remarks of the Siberian situation, "This mirrors post-Soviet anxiety. Russia doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Areas are losing local population while facing influxes of Chinese and other migrants. Russians are more isolated and monochrome than other Europeans. This reflects a dogmatic attitude where you hit out at the small things since you can't touch the bigger ones. Here, if it's about a particular cult or sect, it shows concern about the sect getting even one new convert. It reflects a loss of confidence."

Coming from the nation that once gave the world the complexities of Dostoyevsky, the polished violence of Turgenev, banning the Gita due to nervousness is an irony. However, the episode marks how social anxieties, uncontrolled and eventually overwhelming, target grand ideas -especially those offering multiple understandings and views, a lesson familiar from the recent controversy over A K Ramanujan's essay exploring the Ramayana.

However, making war on diverse, free thought never leads to peace; it is only by reading works like the Gita - and Tolstoy - that we truly learn this.

Forty years of a rollercoaster ride for Bangladeshi Hindus

DHAKA: When Bangladesh became an independent nation after a bloody nine-month battle with Pakistan that ended 40 years ago Friday, Narayan Chandra Das, a Bengali Hindu, had high hopes for his new country.

As a Hindu, Das had been branded an “agent of India” during the war and fled when the Pakistani army burned his village in the eastern district of Comilla to the ground.

But when the war ended on December 16, he came straight home to the new Muslim-majority nation.

Forty years after independence, creeping religious extremism, discriminatory policies and a series of violent attacks on Hindus, have, he says, made him wonder whether it was the right choice.

“My brothers fought with Bangladeshi freedom fighters in the war of independence. I joined mainstream political parties as I believed in the idea of a nation where all citizens were equal,” he told AFP.

“After all these years, I can say it’s not the Bangladesh I dreamt of. In many ways, it’s quite close to Pakistan,” said Das, 55, who manages a pipe manufacturing company in Dhaka.

Bangladesh was founded as a secular republic under its 1972 constitution, proclaiming equal rights for all faiths. At the time, Muslims accounted for 80 per cent of the population, with Hindus making up most of the remainder.

The country’s founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, popularly referred to as Sheikh Mujib, was an avowed secularist who sought to woo the country’s large Hindu electorate.

But after Sheikh Mujib was assassinated in a military coup in 1975, the new military rulers began amending the constitution – replacing secularism with “absolute faith in Allah”, legalising religious-based political parties, and making Islam the state religion.

“It was the beginning,” Subrata Chowdhury, a lawyer and prominent Hindu activist, told AFP.

“The Enemy Property Act was revived, albeit with a different name,” he said.

Throughout the politically turbulent 1990s, the Hindu community came under attack when sectarian tensions flared, particularly during a bout of post-election violence in 2001.

“These attacks triggered a new wave of migration. I know hundreds of families who moved to India,” Das said,

Official data shows the Hindu community has shrunk from 15 to 10 per cent of the population since the 1970s.

Since the current secular Awami League government – led by Sheikh Mujib’s daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina – came to power in 2009, it has rolled back some of the religious inroads made by previous military regimes.

In a series of constitutional amendments it restored the principle of secularism but kept Islam as the state religion – a decision experts have slammed as contradictory and confusing.

It has put 1971 alleged war criminals on trial and pledged to prosecute people identified in a new report as carrying out post-election attacks on Hindus in 2001.

Moreover, last month it passed a landmark bill, enabling the return of property seized by the government from Hindus – a move that, if enforced, could transform the economic fortunes of the Hindu community.

“Finally, we see some hope,” said C.R. Dutta, a freedom fighter and leading Hindu activist.

“There is a change in mindset. Hindus are now more confident,” he added.

Returning some properties will be difficult. Many of those seized under previous governments have been cultivated and developed by their Muslim neighbours.

“In effect, my Muslim neighbours now own my family’s old land. Can the government really enforce the law to evict them?” Das said.

Muslims attack Hare Krishna temple in Denmark:No Matter where they will go They will create Terrorism

The Hare Krishna temple in Western Copenhagen was recently assaulted by a group of young Muslims, throwing stones and breaking windows. To diminish the risk of confrontations with the Muslim-dominated neighbourhood, the devotees of the temple are from now on requested to not wear their characteristic clothes outside the temple, in order to not provoke similar attacks in the future. Below is the original account of the attacks.

The Hare Krishna temple in Western Copenhagen

Dear devotees,

On 6.12.,20.45 the temple in Copenhagen was attacked by a group of gundas with obviously Muslim background. First stones were thrown against the front of the residential temple building, then the window in the mathaji asrama got broken.[TK], the temple president, called police instantly. A single police officer arived, took notice of the dammage and left again. Half an hour later a bigger group of the same attackers arived, again throwing stones, entering the garden, braking this time windows in the Tulasi room, all the bottom windows facing the street. Finaly they tried to brake into the house, seeking direct physical conflict.

It didnt took long to find out the possible background of this attack.

(The temple was never exposed to such an incident before).

The same day two devotees, one of them living directly in the temple and the other outside, were biking closeby when they met on the street a car standing with open door. One passed, the other got blocked by the open door and complained. According to the statement of one of them he was directly attacked by the driver with a tool fetched from the car and as the other one came to his rescue, a fist fight started. Devotees sustained minor injuries. Finaly police arived at the scene and took record of the incident.

As the temple is located in a close Muslim neighbourhood, featuring a Muslim school, etc., it is quite possible that these two incidents are related. The police didnt make sofar this connection,but its obvious.

As matter of fact the involvement of the police was minimal sofar, it took them more a half an hour to arive and after the second attack they didnt come at all. If the attackers would manage to brake into the house, somebody could have been kiled as they were armed with baseball clubs and other weapons. As seeing from the window, most of them could have been even less as 18 years old and some of them couldnt even speak proper denish.

It can be only hoped that this incident was an act of momentarily rage and will not spark a long term enmity and chain of attacks from the local Muslim community. To find the leader of the gang and try to communicate with him is hardly possible. We cannot expect any protection from the police and so once again we are fully depending on the mercy of Sri Sri Goura Nitai and Lord Nrsimhadeva.

Further on devotees are requested to change possibly their devotee dress after leaving the temple property, as being seen in the vaisnava dress they may provoke in an uncontroled manner attacks from the local Muslims while walkig on the street. Incidents of this nature do happen. Even this one is based on individual improper behaviour of both parties, the driver and the devotees, the final attack was issued against anybody who could be identified as the memmber of the Hare Krsna movement. Lets hope these attacks will not escalate. Sofar nobody got injured, but it was a close call indeed.

Three Muslim extremists get 18 years' jail for army terror-attack plan in Australia

Three Muslim extremists convicted of conspiring to plan an Australian terrorist attack have been sentenced to each serve 18 years' jail.

The men were part of an Islamic terrorist cell who were planning to attack the Holsworthy army barracks in Sydney's south-west.

Their aim was to enter the barracks armed with military weapons and shoot 500 personnel, or as many people as possible, before they were killed or ran out of ammunition.

Wissam Mahmoud Fattal, Saney Edow Aweys and Nayef El Sayed, who had all met at the Preston Mosque, had weapons when they were arrested in August 2009.

The men were connected to the Somali-based terrorist group al-Shabaab, and tried to obtain a fatwa, or religious decree, justifying the attack.

Fattal was covertly videoed walking along the perimeter fence at the army base in what the jury, based on their verdict, believed was in preparation for an attack.

The jury found them guilty following a trial lasting more than five months in which multiple listening devices were played outlining their plan and detailing their extreme religious and political views.

They also had an expressed hatred of Australian people and non-Muslims, who they repeatedly referred to as "infidels".

Fattal, Justice Betty King said, appeared to be the "most dogmatic" among them, acknowledging he was "simple man" with low intelligence and whose cognitive impairment would not have been helped at all by his participation for many years in the sport kickboxing, during which he suffered multiple concussions.

He was also fixed and rigid in his religious views.

But the judge said each of the men was a willing participant in the terrorist plot. They also all believed in martyrdom.

In a packed Victorian Supreme Court today, Justice King ordered Fattal, 35, Aweys, 29, and El Sayed, 27, to serve a minimum of 13 years and six months before becoming eligible for parole.

Fattal, however, was ejected from the court as soon as the judge began her sentencing remarks following what was a garbled and difficult to understand verbal outburst.

"This is corruption," he yelled, pointing at Justice King, before she ordered prison guards to take him away, seemingly unsurprised by his behaviour.

On resuming her sentence, which lasted almost two hours, the judge described their crimes as "anticipatory offences" which were stopped by law enforcement authorities before they were carried out, only after undercover police successfully infiltrated the group.

The maximum sentence for the charge of conspiring to plan a terrorist attack is life imprisonment.

Two other men were acquitted by the jury of their involvement in the plot.

Justice King said despite being given the opportunity, none of the trio had recanted their extremist views.

"Each of you remains a danger to the community," Justice King said.

She described their plan as "deadly serious" and "evil". She said it would have been a "totally horrific" event, had it have ever come to pass in a country that had given them and their families opportunities.

The men should all "hang your heads in shame", she said, describing their level of operating as "amateurish" and the plan they were hatching as "far from sophisticated".

Fattal, formerly of Melbourne, has already served 989 days since his arrest, while Aweys, of Carlton, and El Sayed, from Glenroy, have served 864 pre-sentence detention.

The men will serve their jail time in protective custody for behavioural and other reasons.

A relative yelled "oh my God" and several women wept after the sentence was handed down.

Delawar Hossain Sayedee Raped Hindu Girls in 1971

Delawar Hossain Sayedee along with other collaborators kept a Hindu girl confined to her father's house at Parerhat in Pirojpur and raped her day after day during the Liberation War, the International Crimes Tribunal was told yesterday.

The victim, Bhanu Shaha, daughter of Bipod Shaha, left the country after liberation out of fear of public humiliation. She still lives in India, said Syed Rezaur Rahman, a senior prosecutor, while placing the opening statement against Sayedee.

In the tribunal's first trial since its formation on March 25 last year, the prosecution on Sunday got through 61 pages of the statement in court.

Yesterday, Rezaur read out the remaining 27 pages before the three-member panel of judges headed by Nizamul Huq.

On October 3, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Sayedee, one of the seven Jamaat-BNP leaders detained over war crimes links, was charged with 20 counts of crimes. The charges include genocide, murder, rape, arson, abduction and torture of civilians.

The tribunal will start taking depositions of witnesses on December 7.

Rezaur described the crimes against humanity allegedly committed by Sayedee in 1971 and also the background of the case.

He told the tribunal that Sayedee had led a 50-member team of the Razakar Bahini, an anti-liberation force, in attacking Hindu Para of Hoglabunia under Pirojpur.

Sensing the presence of the miscreants, members of the Hindu community had managed to flee.

The razakars, however, got hold of Shefali Gharami, wife of Madhusudan Gharami, and raped her.

Shefali gave birth to a baby girl after the war but, like Bhanu Shaha, she had to leave for India.

On May 5, 1971, Saif Mizanur Rahman, deputy magistrate of then Pirojpur Sub-Division; Foyezur Rahman Ahmed, sub-divisional police officer and father of famed writer Humayun Ahmed and noted educationalist-writer Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, and Abdur Razzak, SDO in charge of Pirojpur, were taken to the Baleshwar river bank and shot to death.

Sayedee as a member of the killing squad was present there.

Under his pressure, some 100-150 Hindus of Parerhat and other villages converted to Islam and had to go to a mosque, said the prosecutor.

He oversaw the creation of a fund with cash and other property looted by the razakars from the locals, mainly Hindu families. He also issued a Fatwa (religious edict) legalising war booty, said the prosecutor.

He also succeeded in allying himself with the Pakistan army, as he had a good command of Arabic and Urdu.

Sayedee went into hiding after the war but returned to his home district of Pirojpur in 1986. In the guise of an Islamic scholar, he began addressing waz mahfils or religious gatherings to hide his past, Rezaur said.

The terrorist blast in Mumbai on July 13, 2011 requires a decisive soul searching by Hindus of India. Hindus cannot accept to be killed in this Halal fashion, continuously bleeding every day, till the nation finally collapses. Terrorism, I define here as the illegal use of force to overawe the civilian population to make it do or not do an act against their will and well-being.
There are about 40 reported and unreported terrorist attacks per month in the country. That is why the recent US National Counter-Terrorism Centre publication A Chronology of International Terrorism states: ‘India suffered more terrorist acts than any other country’.
While the PM thinks that Maoists’ threat is most serious, I think Islamic terrorism is an even more serious existential threat. If we did not have today the present Union Home Minister, PM, and UPA chairperson, then Maoists can be eliminated in a month, much as I did with the LTTE in Tamil Nadu, as a senior minister in 1991, or MGR did with the Naxalites in the early 1980s. Islamic threat to the nation is different.

Why is Islamic terrorism our number one problem of national security? About this there will be no doubt in anyone's mind after 2012. By that year, I expect a Taliban takeover in Pakistan and the Americans to flee Afghanistan. Then, Islam will confront Hinduism to ‘complete unfinished business’. Already the successor to Osama Bin Laden as the Al Qaeda leader has declared that India is the priority target for that terrorist organisation and not the USA.
Fanatic Muslims consider Hindu dominated India as "an unfinished chapter of Islamic conquests". I may be recalled that all other countries conquered by Islam became 100% converted to Islam within two decades of the Islamic invasion. India is the exception. Undivided India in 1947 was 75% Hindu even after 800 years of brutal Islamic rule. That is jarring for the Islamic fanatics.
Let us remember that every Hindu-Muslim riot in India since 1947, has been ignited by Muslim fanatics — if one goes by all the Commissions of Inquiry set up after every riot. Even the Gujarat riots were triggered by the brutal killing of 56 women and children by setting fire to a rail coach in Godhra.
By today’s definition these riots are all terrorist acts. Muslims, though a minority in India, still have fanatics who dare tolead violent attacks against Hindus. Other Muslims of India just lump it, sulk or rejoice. That is the history from Babar’s time to Aurangzeb. There have been exceptions to this apathy of Muslims like Dara Shikoh, in the old days, or like M J Akbar and Salman Haidar today who are not afraid to speak out against Islamic terror, but still they remain exceptions.
*Blame the Hindus*
In one sense, I do not blame the Muslim fanatics for targeting Hindus. I blame us Hindus who have taken their individuality permitted in Sanatana Dharma to the extreme. Millions of Hindus can assemble without state patronage for Kumbh Mela completely self-organised, but they all leave for home oblivious of the targeting of Hindus in Kashmir, Mau, Melvisharam and Malappuram and do not lift their little finger to help organise Hindus. For example, if half the Hindus vote together rising above their caste and language, a genuine Hindu party will have a two-thirds majority in Parliament and Assemblies.
The secularists now tout instances of Hindu fanatics committing terrorist attacks against Muslims or other minorities. But these attacks are mostly state sponsored, often by the Congress itself, and not by Hindu ‘non-state actors’. Muslim-led attacks are however all by ‘non-state actors’ unless one includes the ISI and rogue elements in Pakistan’s army which are aiding them, as state sponsoring.
Fanatic Muslim attacks have been carried out to target and demoralise the Hindus, to make Hindus yield that which they should not, with the aim of undermining and ultimately to dismantle the Hindu foundation of India. This is the unfinished war of 1,000 years which Osama bin Laden talks about. In fact, the earliest terror tactics in India were deployed in Bengal 1946 by Suhrawady and Jinnah to terrorise Hindus to give in on the demand for Pakistan. The Congress party claiming to represent the Hindus capitulated, and handed 25 per cent of India on a platter to Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Now they want the remaining 75 per cent.
*Forces against Hindus*
This is not to say that other stooges have not targeted Hindus. During the last six decades since Independence, British imperialist-inspired Dravidian movement led by E V Ramaswamy Naicker, in the name of rationalism tried to debunk as irrational the Hindu religion, and terrorised the Hindu priestly class, ie, the Brahmins, for propagating the Hindu religion.
The movement’s organisational arm, the Dravida Kazhagam (DK), had venerated Ravana for 50 years to spite the Hindu adoration of Rama and vulgarise the abduction of Sita, till the DK belatedly learnt that Ravana was a Brahmin and a pious bhakta of Lord Shiva too. Abandoning this course of defaming Ramayana, the DK have now become stooges of the anti-Indian LTTE which has specialised in killing the Hindu Tamil leadership in Sri Lanka. Of course the DK has now been orphaned by the decimation of the LTTE.
*Civil war situation*
In the 1960s, the Christian missionaries had inspired the Nagas. The Nagas also wanted to further amputate Bharat Mata by seeking secession of Nagaland from the nation. In the 1980s, the Hindus of Manipur were targeted by foreign-trained elements. Manipuris were told: give up Hinduism or be killed. In Kashmir, since the beginning of the 1990s, militants in league with the Pakistan-trained terrorists also targeted the Hindus by driving the Hindu Pandits out of the Valley, or killing them or dishonouring their women folk.
Recognising that targeting of Hindus is being widely perceived, and that Muslims of India are largely just passive spectators, the foreign patrons of Islamic terrorists are beginning to engage in terrorist acts that could pit Muslims against Hindus in nation-wide conflagration and possible civil war as in Serbia and Bosnia.
Muslims cannot be divided into ‘moderates’ and ‘extremists’ because the former just capitulate when confronted. Recently, Pakistan civilian government capitulated on ‘kite flying’ and banned it because Taliban considers it as ‘Hindu’. Moderate governments of Malaysia and Kazhakstan are now demolishing Hindu temples.
*Collective response*
Hence, the first lesson to be learnt from recent history of Islamic terrorism against India, and for tackling terrorism in India is that the Hindu is the target and that Muslims of India are being programmed by a slow reactive process to become radical and thus slide into suicide against Hindus. It is to undermine the Hindu psyche and create fear of civil war that terror attacks are organised.
And hence since the Hindu is the target, Hindus must collectively respond as Hindus against the terrorist and not feel individually isolated or worse, be complacent because he or she is not personally affected. If one Hindu dies merely because he or she was a Hindu, then a bit of every Hindu also dies. This is an essential mental attitude, a necessary part of a virat Hindu (for fuller discussion of the concept of virat Hindu, see my Hindus Under Siege: The Way Out Haranand, 2006).
Therefore we need today a collective mindset as Hindus to stand against the Islamic terrorist. In this response, Muslims of India can join us if they genuinely feel for the Hindu. That they do, I will not believe, unless they acknowledge with pride that though they may be Muslims, their ancestors are Hindus.
It is not easy for them to acknowledge this ancestry because the Muslim mullah would consider it as unacceptable since that realisation would dilute the religious fervour in their faith and also create an option for their possible re-conversion to Hinduism. Hence, these religious leaders preach hatred and violence against the kafir i.e, the Hindu (for example read Chapter 8 verse 12 of the Quran) to keep the faith of their followers. The Islamic terrorist outfits, e.g the SIMI, has already resolved that India is Darul Harab, and they are committed to make it Darul Islam. That makes them free of any moral compunction whatsoever in dealing with Hindus.
*Brihad Hindu Samaj*
But still, if any Muslim does so acknowledge his or her Hindu legacy, then we Hindus can accept him or her as a part of the Brihad Hindu Samaj, which is Hindustan. India that is Bharat that is Hindustan is a nation of Hindus and others whose ancestors are Hindus. Even Parsis and Jews in India have Hindu ancestors. Others, who refuse to so acknowledge or those foreigners who become Indian citizens by registration can remain in India, but should not have voting rights (which means they cannot be elected representatives).
Hence, to begin with, any policy to combat terrorism must begin with requiring each and every Hindu becoming a committed or virat Hindu. To be a virat Hindu one must have a Hindu mindset, a mindset that recognises that there is vyaktigat charitra (personal character) and a rashtriya charitra (national character).
It is not enough if one is pious, honest and educated. That is the personal character only. National character is a mindset actively and vigorously committed to the sanctity and integrity of the nation. For example, Manmohan Singh, our prime minister, has high personal character (vyaktigat charitra), but by being a rubber stamp of a semi-literate Sonia Gandhi, and waffling on all national issues, he has proved that he has no rashtriya charitra.
The second lesson for combating the terrorism we face today is: since demoralising the Hindu and undermining the Hindu foundation of India in order to destroy the Hindu civilisation, is the goal of all terrorists in India we must never capitulate and never concede any demand of the terrorists. The basic policy has to be: never yield to any demand of the terrorists. That necessary resolve has not been shown in our recent history. Instead ever since we conceded Pakistan in 1947 under duress, we have been mostly yielding time and again.
*Bowing to terrorists*
In 1989, to obtain the release of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s daughter, Rubaiyya who had been kidnapped by terrorists, five terrorists in Indian jails were set free by the V P Singh’s government. This made these criminals in the eyes of Kashmiri separatists and fence sitters heroes, as those who had brought India’s Hindu establishment on its knees. To save Rubaiyya it was not necessary to surrender to terrorist demands.
A worse capitulation to terrorists in our modern history was in the Indian Airlines IC-814 hijack in December 1999 staged in Kandahar. The government released three terrorists even without getting court permission (required since they were in judicial custody). Moreover, they were escorted by a senior minister on the PM’s special Boeing all the way to Kandahar as royal guests instead of being shoved across the Indo-Pakistan border.
Worse still, all the three after being freed, went back to Pakistan and created three separate terrorist organisations to kill Hindus. Mohammed Azhar, whom the National Security Advisor Brijesh Mishra had then described as “a mere harmless cleric”, upon his release led the LeT to savage and repeated terrorist attacks on Hindus all over India from Bangalore to Srinagar. Since mid-2000, Azhar is responsible for the killing of over 2,000 Hindus and the attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001. Omar Sheikh who helped al-Qaeda is in jail in US custody for killing US journalist Daniel Pearl, while the third, Zargar is engaged today in random killings of Hindus in Doda and Jammu after founding Al-Mujahideen Jingaan.
This Kandahar episode proves that we should never negotiate with terrorists, never yield. If you do, then sooner or later you will end up losing more lives than you will ever save by a deal with terrorists.
*Moment of truth*
The third lesson to be learnt is that whatever and however small the terrorist incident, the nation must retaliate—not by measured and ‘sober’ responses but by massive retaliation. Otherwise what is the alternative? Walk meekly to death expecting that our ‘sober’ responses will be rewarded by our neighbours and their patrons? We will be back to 1100 AD fooled into suicidal credulity. We should not be ghouls for punishment from terrorists and their patrons. We should retaliate.
For example, when Ayodhya temple was sought to be attacked, this was not a big terrorist incident but we should have massively retaliated by re-building the Ram temple at the site.
This is Kaliyug, and hence there is no room for sattvic responses to evil people. Hindu religion has a concept of apat dharma and we should invoke it. This is the moment of truth for us. Either we organise to survive as a civilisation or vanish as the Persian, Babylonian, and Egyptian civilisations did centuries ago before the brutal Islamic onslaught. For that our motto should be Saam, Dhaam, Bheda, Danda.
*Poverty is no factor*
What motivates the Islamic terrorists in India? Many are advising us Hindus to deal with the root ‘cause’ of terrorism rather than concentrate on eradicating terrorists by retaliation. And pray what is the root ‘cause’?
According to bleeding heart liberals, terrorists are born or bred because of illiteracy, poverty, oppression, and discrimination. They argue that instead of eliminating them, the root cause of these four disabilities in society should be removed. Only then terrorism will disappear. Before replying to this, let us understand that I have serious doubts about the integrity of these liberals, or more appropriately, these promiscuous intellectuals. They seek to deaden the emotive power of the individual and render him passive (inculcate ‘majboori’ in our psyche). A nation state cannot survive for long with such a capitulationist mentality.
It is rubbish to say that terrorists who mastermind the attacks are poor. Osama bin laden for example is a billionaire. Islamic terrorists are patronised by those states that have grown rich from oil revenues. In Britain, the terrorists arrested so far for the bombings are all well-to-do persons. Nor are terrorists uneducated. Most of terrorist leaders are doctors, chartered accountants, MBAs and teachers. For example, in the failed Times Square New York episode, the Islamic terrorist Shahzad studied and got an MBA from a reputed US university. He was from a highly placed family in Pakistan. He certainly faced no discrimination and oppression in his own country. The gang of nine persons who hijacked four planes on September 11, 2001 and flew them into the World Trade Towers in New York and other targets were certainly not discriminated or oppressed in the United States. Hence it is utter rubbish to say that terror is the outcome of the poverty terrorists face.
If we accept the Left-wing liberals argument, does it mean that in Islamic countries, the non-Islamic religious minority who are discriminated and oppressed can take to terrorism? In the Valley, where Muslims are in majority, not only Article 370 of the Constitution provides privileges to the majority but it is the minority Hindus who have been slaughtered, or raped, and dispossessed. They have become refugees in squalid conditions in their own country.
It is also a ridiculous idea that terrorists cannot be deterred because they are irrational, willing to die, and have no ‘return address’. Terrorist masterminds have political goals and a method in their madness. An effective strategy to deter terrorism is therefore to defeat those political goals and to rubbish them by counter-terrorist action. How is that strategy to be structured? In a brilliant research paper published by Robert Trager and Dessislava Zagorcheva this year (‘Deterring Terrorism’ International Security, vol 30, No 3, Winter 2005/06, pp 87-123) has provided the general principles to structure such a strategy.
*Goal-strategy*
Applying these principles, I advocate the following strategy to negate the political goals of Islamic terrorism in India, provided the Muslim community fail to condemn these goals and call them un-Islamic:
Goal 1: Overawe India on Kashmir.
Strategy: Remove Article 370, and re-settle ex-servicemen in the Valley. Create Panun Kashmir for Hindu Pandit community. Look or create opportunity to take over PoK. If Pakistan continues to back terrorists, assist the Baluchis and Sindhis to struggle for independence.
Goal 2: Blast our temples and kill Hindu devotees.
Strategy: Remove the masjid in Kashi Vishwanath temple complex, and 300 others in other sites as a tit-for-tat. Goal 3: Make India into Darul Islam.
Strategy: Implement Uniform Civil Code, make Sanskrit learning compulsory and singing of Vande Mataram mandatory, and declare India as Hindu Rashtra in which only those non-Hindus can vote if they proudly acknowledge that their ancestors are Hindus. Re-name India as Hindustan as a nation of Hindus and those whose ancestors are Hindus.
Goal 4: Change India’s demography by illegal immigration, conversion, and refusal to adopt family planning.
Strategy: Enact a national law prohibiting conversion from Hindu religion to any other religion. Re-conversion will not be banned. Declare caste is not birth-based but code of discipline based. Welcome non-Hindus to re-convert to the caste of their choice provided they adhere to the code of discipline. Annex land from Bangladesh in proportion to the illegal migrants from that country staying in India. At present, northern one-third from Sylhet to Khulna can be annexed to re-settle the illegal migrants.
Goal 5: Denigrate Hinduism through vulgar writings and preaching in mosques, madrassas, and churches to create loss of self-respect amongst Hindus and make them fit for capitulation.
Strategy: Propagate the development of a Hindu mindset (see my new book Hindutva and National Renaissance, Haranand, 2010).
India can solve its terrorist problem within five years by such a deterrent strategy, but for that we have to learn the four lessons outlined above, and have a Hindu mindset to take bold, risky, and hard decisions to defend the nation. If the Jews can be transformed from lambs walking meekly to the gas chambers to fiery lions in just 10 years, it is not difficult for Hindus in much better circumstances (after all we are 83 per cent of India), to do so in five years.
Guru Gobind Singh has shown us the way already, how just five fearless persons under spiritual guidance can transform a society. Even if half the Hindu voters are persuaded to collectively vote as Hindus, and for a party sincerely committed to a Hindu agenda, then we can forge an instrument for change. And that ultimately is the bottom line in the strategy to deter terrorism in a democratic Hindustan at this moment of truth.

To Save Indian Muslim Terrorists Sharad Pawar misled people on 1993 blasts

On 2006 for the first time, Sharad Pawar has admitted, on record, that he had “deliberately misled” people following the 1993 Mumbai blasts by saying there were 12 and not 11 explosions, adding the name of a Muslim-dominated locality to show that people from both communities had been affected.
Spilling the beans on what became an ill-concealed secret in later days, but had never been said openly, Pawar said he had to quickly find a way to stop Mumbai from going up in flames and this was the ploy he hoped would keep Hindus from retaliating.
The step was pre-meditated as only shortly before making the announcement about the 12th blast that never was, he had been informed of 11 coordinated blasts in the city in March 1993, all hitting Hindu majority areas.
Speaking to The Indian Express Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta on NDTV’s Walk the Talk, which will be broadcast tomorrow at 7.30 pm, Pawar, who was Maharashtra Chief Minister at the time said he had anticipated clashes between Hindus and Muslims and he had to prevent that from happening.
“I went on TV and deliberately misled people. Instead of 11 explosions I told 12 and one of those areas was Masjid Bunder, dominated by minorities,” Pawar said.
And then at the Air India office, where the first explosion had occurred, Pawar came up with another “deliberate fudge” to prevent riots.
He had said then that from some of the material used in the blasts, it appeared that terrorist groups south of India were behind them—hinting at the LTTE.
The NCP president, who is Agriculture Minister in the UPA government, conceded that questions were indeed raised in the party on this step. He was in the Congress then and had been sent to Mumbai by P V Narasimha Rao to put the city back in order in the wake of the riots that had led to a sharp polarisation between Hindus and Muslims after the Babri Masjid demolition.
Pawar said the polarisation of those days was creeping back after the July 11 train explosions. The bombs had been planted in first-class compartments of the Western Railway suburban line to target those from the higher salaried sections, as very few Muslims would be in those compartments.
It was because of this that there were “similar experiences” like 1993 after things had turned around for Mumbai and it was “behaving like a cosmopolitan city”.
The Minister, whose NCP is a partner in the Vilasrao Deshmukh government in Maharashtra, praised the police after the latest attack on the city but was critical of the state government’s role following the blasts. “There was tremendous scope to improve,” he said.
In his interview, Pawar praised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s handling of the nuclear issue on which he is facing opposition from the Left and the BJP.
He said the discussions with the US are not final and if there was any indication of India being dictated to on the nuclear deal, he believed Manmohan Singh would “withdraw from the scene”.
In his estimate, the PM could not be compared to Indira Gandhi who was also party president, he said, but was nonetheless a visionary and an administrator. “He is a fit person to run a coalition government and each MP and UPA member is clear about his integrity and wisdom,” Pawar said.

Thus pseudo secular Leaders are making India a favourite playground of Islamic Terrorists. Islamic Terrorism along with their supporters the anti national Indian Muslims and the pseudo secular leaders should br kicked out of India as soon as possible. Jai Hind.

No Kashmiri Pandit family returned to valley despite package

The government had announced a Rs 1,618 crore package for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants to the Valley in 2008 but so far no family has returned.

"A comprehensive package of Rs 1,618.40 crore has been announced for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants to

the valley in 2008," minister of state for home Jitendra Singh informed Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The package provides for provision of assistance for housing, transit, accommodation, continuation of cash relief, students' scholarship, employment, financial assistance to agriculturists and horticulturists and waiver of interest on loans.

Singh said during 2010-11, the Jammu and Kashmir government has reported an expenditure of Rs 22.88 crore for construction of transit accommodation.

"No family has returned to the valley. However, under employment component of the package, 1,438 candidates have joined in the valley against the created posts," he said.

What Kashmiri Hindu Pandits suffered is India's only ethnic cleansing. It is time Govt. took cognisance of the fact that no amount of 'packages' are going to lure Kashmiri Pandits back to a radicalised Kashmir where all those conditions that lead to their mass exodus continue to exist,where those Pak fed terror commander responsible for unleashing brutalities, roam free.Not a single case of individual killing or mass massacres like Wandhahama or Nadimarg have ever been pursued till date.A political dispensation like a centrally administered UT in the valley with free flow of India's secular constitution for all those Kashmiris who across faiths & ethnicity believe in the idea of India could only fulfill the aspirations of Kashmiri Pandits rendered refugees in their own country for the past two decades.

Is this also an Islamic duty?

Sexual harassments and teasing of girls in Kolkata, like other metropolitan cities across India, are rising by leaps and bounds; even if people love to term this as fallout of mounting consumerism and its grip on the society, sources affirm that the majority of such felons, if not more, are Muslim youths and their targets are Hindu girls. Well, none of us has to go astray in this regard; Ritu Shah, an 18-year-old schoolgirl gashed with a sharp weapon by a Muslim youth named Mohammad Chotu (20 years old) in Kankinara, 24 Paraganas (North) on November 26, 2011, is the best witness and also the victim thus far. It has been learnt that the Muslim youth had been bugging Ritu for days and her indifference made him commit this dastardly act.

To be precise, Ritu was set to appear for her Class XII pre-tests on the same day but contrary to her expectation, the ghastly act compelled her to get admitted to Bhatpara State General Hospital with injuries in her back, neck and hands. It is worthwhile to mention, a portion of the index finger of her left hand was severed because she desperately tried to prevent Mohammad Chotu from attacking her. And all these happened when she was busy in washing utensils before her house.

Mohammad Chotu is a worker in a bindi-making factory and lives in the same locality and as per people in the neighborhood, he was making lots of efforts to talk to Ritu for the past few days. As stated by Lalita, sister of Ritu, Chotu took the opportunity of absence of male members in the residence who are in Bihar for the time being.

Mohammad Chotu, at the moment, is on the loose; police, as usual, is yet to nab him. And as a mark of protest against this inactivity of police, local people blocked the thoroughfare of the area from 4 to 6 pm, Monday.

The bill divides Indian society in two parts: “Group” (minority community comprised of Christians and Muslims) and “Others” (majority community, meaning Hindus). This bill assumes that “Others”, the majority community of

India

(Hindus) are habitual perpetrators of violence and the ”Group” (Muslims and Christians) are the victims.

On the contrary, study after study has proven that Muslims have instigated many of the communal violence incidents in

India

. Several of these studies have been by independent and renowned juridical authorities of unimpeachable integrity. To cite an instance, Justice Tewatia’s “indisputable” report clearly states the attacks on Sabarmati Express at Godhra station on February 27, 2002 were pre-planned by a Muslim mob in which 58 Hindu women and children were roasted alive. This bill has been drafted by National Advisory Council (NAC). The Advisory committee is a nominated body and has no constitutional status. The stated purpose of the Bill is to address the question of communal violence in the country but the extremely insidious agenda is to communalize Indian polity, create hatred against Hindus, destroy communal harmony, demonize Hindus and convert Hindus either to Christianity or Islam.

This bill seeks to perpetuate a fraud on the majority Hindu community of

India

. The bill’s target is implicit and sub rosa the Hindu community of

India

. The bill subliminally propagates abhorrence against Hindus.

Amongst the exceptionally biased and one-sided provisions of the bill are:

· If a case is registered against a Hindu, he has to prove his innocence.

· This law is applicable only when the victim is the “Group” that is, a Muslim or a Christian.

· During the trial, the court may issue orders to attach the property of the accused Hindu.

· The victim will be granted financial compensation within 30 days.

· If a Hindu loses property, is humiliated or boycotted, this law would not apply.

· If any Hindu publishes, communicates, disseminates, broadcasts, advertises by words, either spoken or written, news about communal violence he would be prosecuted for hate propaganda.

· Under this bill, if a Muslim or a Christian complains against any Hindu leader or organization that his/her feelings have been offended, that person/organization would be hauled up.

· Hindus would be prosecuted by “Communal Harmony Authority” to be set up at the state and central levels with seven members each, of which four including chairman and deputy chairman should be from the minority communities.

· All the crimes mentioned under this law are non-bailable.

High Court Advocate, P.P. Hegde has termed the bill as “dreadful”. Mr. Hegde has compared this bill to the imposition of jaziya (tax on infidels) on Hindus and Sikhs during Islamic rule in

India

. BJP has described it as “dangerous”. Jaya Lalitha, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu finds this bill as “Fascist”. Mamta Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal; Mayawati, Chief Minister of U.P.; and several other Chief Ministers have vehemently criticized it. None of the Opposition Parties or Hindu leaders have been consulted in this regard.

Anthony, Defense Minister; Salman Khurshid, Law Minister; Gulam Nabi Azad, Health Minister; Ahmed Patel, Seniormost Political Advisor; Margaret Alva, Governor of Uttarakhand; and Anil Kumar Brown, also known as "Charlie" Browne, Chief of Air Staff are amongst the most notables. Five chief ministers in Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Kerala and Arunachal Pradesh are also devout Christians.

The noose is being tightened on Hindus. The situation for Hindus in India, in short, can be described as abysmally apocalyptic even though it is the majority religion ofIndia. Once this bill is enacted in Parliament, a precariously perilous situation will arise for Hindus. Hindus must scrutinize and examine the threat emanating from this fraudulent bill. Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee forced 60 Hindus to become Muslims

Resuming his deposition yesterday, Ruhul Amin Nabin told the International Crimes Tribunal that Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee and other collaborators had compelled 60 Hindus to convert to Islam during the Liberation War in Pirojpur. He said they also helped the Pakistani army rape several women in 1971.

Freedom fighter Nabin, who was 21 years old at the time, said some of the Hindus of Parer Haat area, forced to convert, fled to India as they were unable to deal with the humiliation. They, however, returned after the liberation of Bangladesh and followed their own religion, he said.

Now 61, Nabin began his deposition Wednesday and resumed and completed giving his testimony yesterday. He is the second prosecution witness to testify against Sayedee, who has been charged with crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 war.

Detained Sayedee, 71, was present in the dock of the tribunal during the testimony.

A three-judge tribunal led by its Chairman Justice Nizamul Huq recorded the testimony of Nabin. It fixed December 11 for cross-examination of Nabin and Mahabubul Alam Hawlader, who completed his deposition Wednesday.

There are 66 more prosecution witnesses yet to testify in the case.

Nabin yesterday narrated how during the Liberation War Sayedee helped the Pakistani occupation forces loot valuables from Awami League activists, freedom fighters and the Hindu community in Pirojpur.

The Pakistani occupation forces went to Pirojpur district on May 3, 1971. Around 52 members of the force arrived in 26 rickshaws in Parer Haat area of Pirojpur on May 7, Nabin told the court, a fact which supports the statement of Hawlader.

Sekandar Ali Shikder, Danesh Ali Mollah, Mawlana Mosleh Uddin and Sayedee, among other collaborators, welcomed the Pakistani force led by one Cap Ejaz. Fluent Urdu speaker Sayedee managed to form a close and friendly relationship with the Pakistani occupation forces, Nabin said, echoing Hawlader's statement.

With the help of collaborators, the Pakistani force looted over 50 houses and shops in the area, including the shop of a local businessman Makhan who had around 20kg of gold (22-sher) and silver jewellery buried under his shop.

They looted eight more houses in Pirojpur's Badura Chithalia village the following day and torched them, he said.

“On a Thursday sometime in mid-June, I took a boat to Parer Haat to gather rations for freedom fighters…It was a haat day [weekly bazaar]…I stood in front of Masud's store and observed the atmosphere of the surrounding area,” Nabin said.

It was then that he saw Sayedee in the distance. “He was wearing a panjabi and lungi,” said Nabin, adding, “He carried a corrugated iron sheet in one hand, and brass utensils in a wooden basket on his head.”

Nabin watched Sayedee, then known as Delawar Hossain Shikder, make his way to a shop, which used to be known as “Panch Tahabil”.

He directed passerby Moulvi Nurul Haque's attention towards Sayedee and said, “See, Delawar Saheb is taking away the loot.”

Nabin, who carried a revolver then, turned angry and told Nurul Haque, “I will shoot this robber right now!”

“Nurul Haque stopped me and said if I created a scene the Pakistani occupation forces would torch the remaining houses too and commit genocide.”

Nabin then made his way towards another shop in the bazaar area where he learnt from locals that Madan Saha's shop had been looted. He then saw Sayedee appear with five men. They began demolishing Madan Saha's shop.

The looted goods were then taken to Sayedee's father-in-law's house in the area, Nabin said.

According to Nabin, the collaborators took over two shops in Parer Haat to store the booty. Sayedee was in charge of the shops, he said.

Nabin told the court that during their stay in Parer Haat the Pakistani occupation forces raped a number of girls with the help of the collaborators.

The collaborators also forced 50 to 60 Hindus to convert to Islam. The victims included Rony Saha, Makhan Saha, Dr Ganesh Chandra, Dr Sudhir Chandra Roy, Gouranga and Ajit Chandra Roy, he added.

“Everyday, they were taken to mosques and forced to pray five times. They were also forced to learn two to four suras [verses of the holy Quran] and were provided with materials for prayers.”

Unable to accept the insult, many of them escaped to India, he added.

On June 21, 1971, Nabin along with a number of freedom fighters went to India to receive guerrilla training. On his return, he took part in armed warfare against the Pakistani occupation forces, Nabin said.

Along with his fellow freedom fighters, Nabin returned to Parer Haat on December 18. The freedom fighters then searched different houses to get hold of the collaborators.

While some were arrested, identified collaborators like Danesh Ali, Maulana Mosleh Uddin and Sayedee could not be apprehended, he said. “We came to know that they had fled,” Nabin told the court.

Some looted goods were recovered from the houses of the collaborators. They were handed back to their original owners.

On behalf of the freedom fighters and the victims of the atrocities committed during the Liberation War by the Pakistani occupation forces, Nabin pleaded for justice.

A Story of Israel Hatred

In 1971, Bangladesh was released from the grip of Pakistan after a nine month deadly struggle for liberation, in which, according to official reports, three million Bangladeshis were declared to have died. There were many reasons why the (then) East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, wanted to be separated. One of the strongest was that the rulers of (West; now simply) Pakistan had, since its birth, been trying to make the country one of the most powerful representatives of Islam on Earth. The people of East Pakistan, however, wished to have a secular state where they could live harmoniously together with Hindus and others.

During its 23 years of rule since its separation from India in 1947, however, Pakistan has worked hard, with all its soul, to make the Bangladeshi people hostile to its neighboring country -- which happens to have a Hindu majority -- India.

Pakistan not only spread hatred against non-Muslims; it also tried to galvanize Islamic sentiment throughout the eastern areas of Bangladesh, where the majority of the people were moderate Muslims and had different beliefs, including Sufism and Bauls, a local, non-violent, friendly culture. Pakistan has been so bigoted and chauvinist, it even banned the songs of Rabindranath Tagor, the famous novel laureate in literature, by considering him a Hindu.

Meanwhile, the unaccompanied voice of Sheik Mujibur Rahaman, later the father of the nation of Bangladesh, started to roar against the policies of Pakistan. As his rulers and political rivals were Islamic, he established a counter-policy: the creation of an independent, secular state. In 1971, India and the Soviet block strongly supported the independence of Bangladesh. The US and nearly all the Muslim counties, however, stood behind Pakistan.

When Bangladesh finally attained its freedom on December 16, 1971, all the Arabian Nations were highly discontented over Bangladesh's success.

At the time, as international aid was badly needed for the new, war-torn nation, India and Bangladesh lobbied the governments of the powerful and rich states of the world through diplomatic channels. The supreme leaders of Bangladesh and India directly asked – begged -- for recognition of the newborn country. There was, however, very little response from the Muslim brothers of Bangladesh, for whom the people of Bangladesh nonetheless have feelings of the greatest esteem. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia frowned on recognizing Bangladesh until the killing of the founder of nation, Sheik Mujibur Rahaman, at the hands of fundamentalist elements, in 1975.

It was Israel, where Golda Meir was then prime minister, that spontaneously recognized Bangladesh on February 4, 1972. But unfortunately and interestingly, Bangladesh was not even gentle enough to accept the recognition. It is still mysterious why the first government of Bangladesh did not shake the outstretched hand of Israel. In course of time, Bangladesh adopted the "No peace, no recognition, no negotiation with Israel" policy of the Khartoum Conference that took place a few months after the Six Day War.

Bangladesh -- no matter who has been the ruler or what has been its form of government -- still has not changed her policy on Israel. Many of the Arab countries, where Islam was born, at least have diplomatic relations with Israel.

But Bangladesh, a distant country of 170 million people, that officially declares itself secular, does not have any relations with Israel. It is even prominently written on Bangladeshi passports, "ALL COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD EXCEPT ISRAEL".

Anti-Semitism is so high in the atmosphere that even some secular, progressive journalists have decided that it is not safe to speak out against the wrong perceptions of their compatriots. It is unjustifiable. I myself am suffering from this deprivation, as I want to visit that very historic, beautiful land.

Once Taiwan (Formosa) and South Africa were also banned to the people of Bangladesh. But that was erased from the Bangladeshi passport in course of time. Only Israel remains a supposedly hostile nation-state.

Sadly, this decision was not derived from the opinion of the masses, It is not known to more than 70% of Bangladeshi Muslims citizens living in the rural areas that there even is a country named Israel. Neither was it ever a political issue, nor it is mentioned in any election manifesto of the country.

It was a spontaneous decision, an untold accord among the politicians, not to have any kind of relations with Israel. The influential leaders of the country love to visit Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

There is the lame excuse by the oligarchy that it would be a political issue and that Muslim sentiment will be outraged if Bangladesh had relations with Israel. The excuse is a scarecrow. People of this country think of having electricity and the price of commodities -- not about relations with Israel.

Both countries could benefit so highly from a relationship. Israel could directly import garments and textile supplies -- nice garments with very easy prices. And Bangladesh could earn a lot of foreign currency. This country could have the benefit of sophisticated accessories, machines and the technical assistance of Israel in so many different sectors of development. Unfortunately the invisible barrier has thus far been too strong.

Malaysian MPs seek BJP's help against discrimination - The Times of India

MPs from Malaysia's oppositionDemocratic Action Party Monday urged theBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership to raise issues of "discrimination" against Malayasian Hindus in their bilateral meetings with the authorities of their country.

MPs M Manogaran and S Ramakrishnan said they had a cultural and civilisational bond with India and want it to provide "leadership on issues concerning human rights".

Talking to reporters at the residence of BJP MP Tarun Vijay, the two MPs said there had been incidents of attacks on Hindu groups but their complaints had not been addressed.

The MPs, who have met BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, are also intending to meet senior party leader L.K. Advani.

They said they did not want India to interfere in their country's domestic affairs and were not seeking any physical help.

Vijay said the MPs wanted to make people in India "aware about the discriminatory policies against the Malaysian Hindus".

He said BJP hoped the government will take up their concerns as India is a signatory to universal declaration on human rights.

Were Buddhists Persecuted By Hindus?

This article is not against Buddhism or Buddhists but against those that run false factories to repeat the lie that Hindus used violence to uproot Buddhism from this land.

While there are many reasons why the history of this great land needs to be relooked and rewritten, the myth of the persecution of Buddhists by Hindus would find an entry amongst the top 3 reasons, to get it done. What is most interesting in this whole propaganda of persecution of Buddhists by Hindus is that it is Jihadis worldwide who look most concerned with this centuries oldissue on humanitarian grounds forgetting that it were their fellow Momins aka Taliban only, in Afghanistan, who blew the ‘dirty’ Bamiyan Buddha statues and showed how much Jihadis care for Buddhists in 21st Century!

The point of this article is to expose the fallacy of the argument of Hindu persecution of Buddhists, with specific instances from Buddhist historical accounts. The scope of this article is not about delving into the theological aspects of what Siddhartha Gautama Buddha taught or the various schools of Buddhism prevalent today. We proceed to the meat of the article right away by looking at Buddhist historical accounts at the time of Emperor Ashoka, who was instrumental in the spreading of Buddhism far and wide.

Myth #1: Emperor Ashoka became enlightened after embracing Buddhism and he was the first and the last secular emperor ever to have ruled India.

As we all know, Ashoka, propelled by a sense of guilt after the bloodbath in Kalinga embraced Buddhism as some form of redemption to overcome the same. Not many Marxist historians and Islamic historians in India do seem to acknowledge a little fact that Emperor Ashoka was helped by two of his Hindu mentors in this move. So, to start with, if Hindus were as dogmatic about their faiths, as these historians have projected Hindus to be and had persecuted Buddhists, why and how did those that had sway over this great emperor allow him to embrace Buddhism as his personal faith?

And the anti-Hindu bias of these historians has forced them to hide Ashoka’s disdain towards other faiths, after he became a Buddhist. Here is an incident chronicled in “Ashokavadana” (acts of Ashoka) and I am quoting it verbatim – “….an incident occurred which greatly enraged the king. A follower of the Nirgrantha (Mahavira) painted a picture, showing Buddha prostrating himself at the feet of the Nirgrantha. Ashoka ordered all the Ajivikas of Pundravardhana (North Bengal) to be killed. In one day, eighteen thousand Ajivikas lost their lives. A similar kind of incident took place in the town of Pataliputra. A man who painted such a picture was burnt alive with his family. It was announced that whoever would bring the king the head of a Nirgrantha would be rewarded with a dinara (a gold coin). As a result of this, thousands of Nirgranthas lost their lives.” Only when Vitashoka, Ashoka’s favourite Arhat (an enlightened monk, a Theravada-Buddhist saint), was mistaken for a Nirgran tha and killed by a man desirous of the reward, did Ashoka revoke the order.

But our biased historians would never even acknowledge this, as, Buddhism was supposed to have cleansed Ashoka of all negativities and this incident flies in the face of the secular image that these folks have carefully built.

Myth #2: King Pushyamitra was a Hindu bigot that slaughtered Buddhist monks.

This King Pushyamitra , who was a military general in the Mauryan army (when the dynasty’s power was on the wane), executed a coup and he founded the Shunga dynasty. The charge that historians desperately try to make is exactly the account we saw above (what Ashoka did), excepting that this time, Ashoka has been replaced by Pushyamitra and instead of Nirgranthas, the victims were Buddhist monks. And the delta information in deriding Pushyamitra comes in the form of a powerful Arhat creating many of the monks’ heads and having them sent to King Pushyamitra’s court. Do we need anything more in terms the credibility of the accounts of King Pushyamitra persecuting Buddhists? The myth seems to hinge on some magic of a senior Buddhist monk creating severed heads of other monks and sending them to the king! Also, this narrative on Pushyamitra occurs towards the end of Ashokavadana. And it gets even shallower, as, there are historical accounts of King Pushyamitra patronizing the construction of many Buddhist monasteries. This is where the statement of the historian Etienne Lamotte assumes significance: “To judge from the documents, Pushyamitra must be acquitted through lack of proof.” (History of Indian Buddhism, Institut Orientaliste, Louvain-la-Neuve 1988/1958, p.109)

Myth #3: Hindu rulers systematically uprooted Buddhism.

This is a very generic myth and to counter it we are going to use chronicles of Chinese travelers, some of whom, where students of Buddhist theology. When Hieun Tsang (the Chinese traveler and a student of Buddhist theology) was in India, king Harshavardhana organized the Kanauj assembly (643 AD). This king was a patron of both Shaivism and Buddhism and in fact Harshavardhana has written plays integrating legends from Puranas and Jataka. The invitees to the Kanauj assembly included King Bhaskaravarman of Kamrupa (Assam), many Buddhist monks, Hindu and Jain scholars. And where did Hieun Tsang pursue further studies? He did it in Buddhist University of Nalanda. Had Hindu rulers were so intent on finishing off Buddhism, how did this University survive? And a couple of centuries prior to this assembly at Kanauj, another Chinese traveler Faxian (330 – 420 AD) had chronicled the hold of Buddhism in India. Even in the two centuries between these two Chinese travelers, Buddhism did not wither away, which, clearly indicates that across this land ruled by Hindu kings, the growth of Buddhism was never curtailed.

And let us further see what we can infer from Hieun Tsang about Buddhism in India, in his works –

Buddhism was popular in Kanyakubja (modern day UP).
Kanyakubja had 100 monasteries and 10,000 bhikshus along with 200 “Deva” (Hindu) temples
Konkanpura (perhaps modern day Konkan or may be the areas around Kolhapur), he found great numbers of Buddhists coexisting with a similar number of non-Buddhists
In Sindh he finds a large Sammitiya and Theravada population. He reports a fair number of Buddhists in what is now Pakistan.

His chronicles, while discussing that some of the Hindu kings were not favorable to Buddhism, does not anywhere mention anything close to state sponsored violence being unleashed against Buddhists by these Hindu kings. And our Chinese friend (a known Buddhist student of theology) was of some repute and if these Hindu kings were so bigoted (as our modern day historians would have us believe), he would not have been allowed to enter into such kingdoms at all.

So what the above instances go to show is that Hindu kings were not Hindu extremists that destroyed Buddhism, as, the modern day historians try to claim. Given the obvious gaps in their falsified accunts, some of the historians use King Mihirakula as a Hindu poster boy that unleashed violence against Buddhists. But what they willfully gloss over is that this king was not a Hindu but was a Hun ruler that belonged to a clan (of Central Asian Xionites origin) that invaded North West India. The historians claim that King Mihirakula was a Shiavitie but in his campaigns against the kingdom of Malwa and Gwalior, he razed down temples and Buddhist stupas alike and this confirms his non-Hindu origins. Just to be doubly sure, I am also presenting his lineage which proves he was not a Hindu. Mihirakula was the son of the Hun ruler called Toramana and their Hun lineage and the spread of the kingdom can be seen in the Jain literary work called Kuvalayamala.

But our biased historians will have none of these and they will continue to parrot the lie that Hindu kings like Pushyamitra and Mihirakula persecuted Buddhists!

Myth #4: Adi Shankaracharya instigated Hindu kings to rid India of Buddhism

This is a myth that is completely unfounded. The historical records show that by the time Adi Shankaracharya started traveling and engaging Buddhist scholars in theological debates, Buddhism was already on the wane, due to the fact that monasteries started becoming organized power centers of kingdoms and instead of propagating the message of Gautama Buddha, they ended up setting agendas and started influencing the public discourse on theology. Buddhism had, by Adi Shankara’s time become monastery centric and the closed groups of monks started becoming corrupt. And in order to cling on to their exalted status the monks started espousing the very same superstitious beliefs that the original Buddha sought to destroy in the society of his time. Of course, we will deep-dive into reasons for the decline of Buddhism towards the end of this article.

Returning to Shankara, if anything the spade work for a theological counterpoint / debate against Buddhism was put in place by the famous Purva Mimamsa scholar called Kumarila Bhatta from modern day Assam. He had enrolled in the Nalanda University to understand Buddhist theology so that he can do a comparative study with Vedas. He was thrown out of the University, when, he questioned the understanding of one of his teachers on Vedic philosophy, who, criticized the Vedas. Kumarila Bhatta had already weakened the theological hold of Buddhism amongst the masses, by the time Shankara arrived. Kumarila Bhatta engaged many a Buddhist scholar in public debates on Vedas and was instrumental in many kings that patronized these Buddhist scholars returning back to the Vedic fold.

The debates that Shankara engaged in had the criterion that the one that lost the debate should embrace the faith of the victor. When Buddhist scholars lost debate after debate with Shankara, they had no choice but to honor the commitment and when they did so, the king / prince to whom these Buddhist scholars were mentors ended up following suit. There is nothing in the historical records, even remotely, to suggest that Shankara forced Hindu kings to unleash violence against the Buddhists.

While he did engage in discussions with many rulers persuasively about Hindu dharma, the charge of this Hindu Guru engaging in violence against Buddhists is the unilateral dream of biased historians. There is not even a shred of evidence that substantiates the charge of Adi Shankaracharya instigating violence against Buddhists. And just to be sure, if we deep dive into the Advaita philosophy, as expounded by Adi Shankaracharya, the same ethics that are seen in the Vedas, Upanishads & Bhagavad Gita, like truth, non-violence, service etc are seen. Had Adi Shankaracharya acted against what he publicly preached or had he done things blatantly contradicted the message of Vedas, he would have ceased to be the philosopher / saint he is.

Decline of Buddhism in India:

Here is where the falsified, unsubstantiated blatant lies of many a historian will be buried. Now, will our biased historians give us details of which of the Hindu kings pillaged and burnt down Buddhist monasteries? They hardly can but we are going to churn out some hard hitting facts.

An excerpt from “History Of Magadha” by L.L.S. Omalley; J.F.W. James (Veena Publication, Delhi, 2005, pp. 35: “ The Buddhism of Magadha was finally swept away by the Muhammadan invasion under Bakhtiyar Khilji, In 1197 the capital, Bihar, was seized by a small party of two hundred horsemen, who rushed the postern gate, and sacked the town. The slaughter of the “shaven-headed Brahmans,” as the Muslim chronicler calls the Buddhist monks, was so complete that when the victor searched for someone capable of explaining the contents of the monastic libraries, not a living man could be found who was able to do so. “It was discovered,” it was said, “that the whole fort and city was a place of study.” A similar fate befell the other Buddhist institutions, against which the combined intolerance and rapacity of the invaders was directed. The monasteries were sacked and the monks slain, many of the temples were ruthlessly destroyed or desecrated, and countless idols were broken and trodden under foot. Those monks who escaped the sword flied to Tibet, Nepal and southern India; and Buddhism as a popular religion in Bihar, its last abode in Northern India, was finally destroyed. Then forward Patna passed under Muhammadan rule.”
And what did the Hindus that were fighting the Muhammadan invaders do for Buddhism during the invasions? Here are some excerpts from Alexander Berzin’s “The Historical Interaction between the Buddhist and Islamic Cultures before the Mongol Empire”:
- Although the Mithila rulers were Shaivite Hindus, they continued the Pala patronage of Buddhism and offered strong resistance against the Ghurids. They stopped, for example, an attempted drive to take Tibet in 1206.
- The Sena king (Hindu) installed defensive garrisons at Odantapuri and Vikramashila Monasteries, which were imposing walled citadels directly on the Ghurids’ line of advance.
- A Tibetan monk called Dharmaswamin visited Nalanda in 1235, nearly forty years after its sack, and found a small class still conducted in the ruins by a ninety-year old monk, Rahul Sribhadra. Weak and old, the teacher was kept fed and alive by a local Brahmin, Jayadeva. Warned of a roving band of 300 Turks, the class dispersed, with Dharmaswamin carrying his nonagenarian teacher on his back into hiding. Only the two of them came back, and after the last lesson (it was Sanskrit grammar) Rahul Sribhadra told his Tibetan student that he had taught him all he knew and in spite of his entreaties asked him to go home. Packing a raggedy bundle of surviving manuscripts under his robe, Dharmaswamin left the old monk sitting calmly amidst the ruins. And both he and the Dharma of Sakyamuni made their exit from India.

Dr.Ambedkar’s take on the topic:

“There can be no doubt that the fall of Buddhism in India was due to the invasions of the Musalmans,” writes the author. “Islam came out as the enemy of the ‘But’. The word ‘But,’ as everybody knows, is an Arabic word and means an idol. Not many people, however, know that the derivation of the word ‘But’ is the Arabic corruption of Buddha. Thus the origin of the word indicates that in the Moslem mind idol worship had come to be identified with the Religion of the Buddha. To the Muslims, they were one and the same thing. The mission to break the idols thus became the mission to destroy Buddhism. Islam destroyed Buddhism not only in India but wherever it went. Before Islam came into being Buddhism was the religion of Bactria, Parthia, Afghanistan, Gandhar and Chinese Turkestan, as it was of the whole of Asia….”

Dr.Ambedkar also laments the nature of priesthood and the practices of the communities (Buddhism and Hinduism) that enabled Hinduism to survive, while, Buddhism was not so lucky, against the brutal assaults by Muhammadans. “Such was the slaughter of the Buddhist priesthood perpetrated by the Islamic invaders. The axe was struck at the very root. For by killing the Buddhist priesthood, Islam killed Buddhism. This was the greatest disaster that befell the religion of the Buddha in India….” He continues elsewhere “…and the difference is so great that it contains the whole reason why Brahmanism survived the attack of Islam and why Buddhism did not.”

The lists of similar instances are available across the books that have been quoted above. But the biased historians of our land willfully follow an ostrich like approach and keep repeating the lie that Hindus uprooted Buddhism from India, violently. May truth prevail.

Hindu Woman physically attacked for committing murder at Tangail District of Bangladesh By Muslims

Investigated by Advocate Rabindra Ghosh-Founder President of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) and Observer of Global Human Rights Defense (GHRD): Mr.Parimal Chandra Sarkar- husband of victim Number 2 Shymoli Rani filed Petition case No.1011 dated 02.11.2011 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Tangail under section 447/323/354/326//307/ Bangladesh Penal code and the Magistrate directed the Officer in charge of Nagarpur police station to take necessary steps against the perpetrators. As per order of the court the Officer in Charge recorded the case under the similar section of law against those perpetrators on 04.11.2011 3 days after the incident. But the perpetrators namely a) Alam Sheikh b) Wasim and c) Jashim have been bailed out on 14.11.2011 from the court and again intimidating the Hindu victims to withdraw the case.

As per first information report (FIR) lodged by victim’s husband the perpetrators belonging to Muslims are the habitual offenders and land grabbers. On 1st of November, 2011 at about 08 morning the perpetrators wrongfully entered into the lands of victim and started to cut valuable trees belonging to Hindu victims, the owner of the trees protested but the perpetrators with deadly weapon by an exe attacked Mr.Parimal Chandra Sarkar and Ms. Karuna Rani Sarkar, as a result of such attack Ms. Karuna sustained multiple injuries at her head and fell down on the ground pouring unstopped blood from the head and she has been brought to local Health Complex-Nagarpur where from she had been transferred to Tangail Sadar Hospital and thereafter she had also been referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on 2nd of November,11 for better treatment as the physical condition (head injury) of the victim was precarious reported by the local physician. The victim got medical treatment from Dhaka Medical College Hospital got senses.

BDMW Dhaka investigated the matter on 13th of November, 11, reached at the spot requesting the law enforcing agencies at Tangail for co-operation. Police could not arrest the perpetrators till our arrival at the spot. We also requested officer in charge of Nagarpur police station to be present at the spot and accordingly Mr.Arif –Sub Inspector of Police was also present but the demeanour and attitude of the police was not satisfactory and proactive. We also visited Dhaka Medical College Hospital on 10.11.2011 where Ms. Karuna was undergoing treatment at Hospital Bed No. B-14. We also visited Nagarpur police station and met with Mr.Mohammad Rabiul Islam, Officer in-Charge of this police station. He gave us to understand that attempt would be taken to apprehend the criminals to justice. Police totally failed to tender medical and legal help to the destitute victims presumably to destroy the evidences of attempt to murder. Police also did not seize any evidences of blood stained clothes of the victim. We requested local police to exert their influence to initiate the proceeding as per law; otherwise the victims may not be accorded proper justice. We took statements of the police, victims and local witnesses namely 1) Joydev Sarkar, 2) Mrinal Kanti Roy, 3) Ms. Gita Rani Sarkar, 4) Ms. Dipali Sarkar, 5) Akash Sarkar, 6) Abinash Chowdhury, 7) Fatik Roy, Ms. Reba Rani Chowdhury 9) Shymoli Rani Sarkar and 10) Ms. Sabita Rani. All of them supported the contention of the informant of the case and demanded punishment of the perpetrators.

Liberalism fuels radical Islamism

That’s Anjem Choudary, spiritual leader of Muslims Against Crusades, a Britain-based radical Islamist organisation which was banned last Thursday by Home Secretary Theresa May, rallying round his forces. Muslims Against Crusades has been in the forefront of seeking to convert London into Londonistan, aggressively and belligerently. With the ban in effect, membership of Muslims Against Crusades would be deemed a criminal offence which could fetch violators a 10-year jail term. But that’s unlikely to prove to be much of a deterrent. Like the Lashkar-e-Tayyeba in Pakistan, which morphed into Jamaat-ud-Dawa’h and then into Tehreek-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool to avoid ban-linked sanctions, Muslims Against Crusades will soon resurface with a new identity and old faces, including that of Anjem Choudary.

After all Anjem Choudary, a British-born Muslim whose parents had migrated to the United Kingdom presumably seeking a better life and who really has no reason (deprivation, denial, discrimination — the usual causes trotted out by Left-liberal apologists of Islamic fanaticism) to turn into a vicious and vile propagandist of radical Islamism’s ideology of hate, is a past master at the game of defying proscription through deceit. A trained lawyer, he uses the law, meant to protect democracy and liberty, to Britain’s disadvantage. He began his journey into the dark, joyless world of Islamism under the guidance of the chief of Hizb ut-Tahrir, Syrian-born mullah Omar Bakri Muhammad who lived off Britain’ social welfare system while plotting to destroy the country that fed him. Together they launched Al Muhajiroun.

The organisation was banned for openly espousing the cause of terrorists and glorifying suicide-terrorism as a valiant act by the ‘soldiers of god’. Soon after Al Muhajiroun was banned, Bakri fled Britain to avoid arrest, prosecution and a long stint in jail. Undeterred, Anjem Choudary went on to found Al Ghurabaa, which too was banned. Since then he has floated a series of organisations to avoid subsequent proscriptions: Al Ghurabaa was followed by Islam4UK, Call to Submission, Islamic Path, London School of Shari’ah and The Saved Sect which was also known as the Saviour Sect.

Muslims Against Crusades is Anjem Choudary’s most recent organisation. The day it was banned, the organisation’s website hosted a statement inciting British Muslims against the Government: “The banning of Muslims Against Crusades by Home Secretary Theresa May is a great victory for Islam and Muslims and highlights the sheer hatred the British Government has towards sincere Muslims who wish to peacefully speak out against policies that are (from every angle) anti-Islam and anti-Muslim.” Its intent can only be overlooked by those who see merit in mollycoddling fanatics in the guise of promoting liberal Britain’s experiment with bogus ‘multi-culturalism’ whose toxic fumes now threaten to choke and kill the very basis of British democracy: An open society that guarantees freedom and liberty.

The British Home Office knows that the statement issued by Muslims Against Crusades mocking at the ban order is not empty rhetoric. Yet, there’s little it can do than to wait for the hydra-headed monster to sprout a new head before slicing that off too. Muslims Against Crusades was “simply another name for an organisation already proscribed under a number of names”, Ms May said after issuing the ban order, adding, “The organisation was proscribed in 2006 for glorifying terrorism and we are clear it should not be able to continue these activities by simply changing its name.” Ostensibly the ban follows a threat by Muslims Against Crusades to disrupt Armistice Day celebrations, but that may not be entirely true. A far more compelling reason would be its crude (and frightening) effort to impose shari’ah in those London areas where Muslims have a sizeable presence.

Earlier this year, east Londoners woke up one cold morning to find the boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Newham plastered with posters that declared: “You are entering a shari’ah-controlled zone — Islamic rules enforced.” The posters also mentioned that smoking, alcohol and music were prohibited in these “shari’ah-controlled zones”. People reacted with horror, but local councils were more indulgent, laughing it off as a prank and promising to take down the posters. It was not a laughing matter, as was found recently when Dr Mike Freer, MP for Finchley and Golders Green, had to lock himself in his own surgery when confronted by a Muslims Against Crusades mob baying for his blood. He was luridly described as a “Jewish homosexual pig”. On September 11, a large crowd of Muslims Against Crusades members staged a noisy protest outside the US Embassy in London, chanting “Death to Americans!” and raising slogans glorifying Osama bin Laden.

Meanwhile, Anjem Choudary has decided to carry on his crusade against Christians, Jews and Hindus and fulfil his dream of planting the flag of Islam atop Westminster by flooding social media platforms with his evil thoughts. He is often spotted on Twitter (where his account describes him as “a Muslim who believes that Islam is something we must believe in (tawheed), live by (shari’ah) and struggle and sacrifice for (by way of daw’ah and jihad)”, tweeting furiously about taking his jihad to its logical conclusion. His tweets have been compiled by MEMRI, from which I reproduce the most anodyne and least offensive:

* Those who want to support the publication of “Charlie Hebdo” who insulted the Messenger Mohammed must take lessons from Theo Van Gogh! * If being suspected of directing a criminal network is enough to target someone (Osama bin Laden) for killing without charge, what about President Barak Obama? * I think Cameron & Obama are dictators, so what’s the solution? How would you like it if we started bombing Washington & London to remove them? * What is the legacy of 9/11? Were the 3000 innocent? Were the 19 martyrs? What are the positive outcomes of 9/11? Find out at the US Embassy! September 11, 2011. * 10 years after 9/11 the USA/UK economies collapse & their soldiers increasingly return in body bags so we can safely say ‘YOU LOST THE WAR’! * Greece should adopt the shari’ah: Use the Golden Dinar and eradicate inflation. Ban gambling/porn/shares/alcohol/usury. * Once Egypt adopts the shari’ah, the total liberation of Palestine & the return of all Jews to where they came (from) will be the next step forward!

What is it about Left-liberalism that breeds such hatred? How come Britain, the mother of democracies, has to confront such malcontents? Is it decades of turning a Nelson’s eye to the criminal deeds of Anjem Choudary and his ilk so as to appear to be tolerant and accommodating? Or is it because like much of Europe, Britain has been corroded from within by those of its men and women who have rejected faith in Christianity — and its values — to embrace secular libertarianism?

Four Hindu doctors gunned down in Pakistan

Four Hindu doctors have been gunned down in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, sparking fears and panic among the minority community.

The doctors were gunned down yesterday at theirclinic in Chak town close to Shikarpur.

Dr Ramesh Kumar, a former member of provincial assembly and chief patron of PakistanHindu Council, confirmed that Dr Ashok, Dr Naresh, Dr Ajeet and Dr Satia Paul were killed by armed assailants while working in their clinic.

"This is not the first time such an incident has taken place where members of our community have been targeted. What is of concern is that the law enforcement agencies tend to support the criminals involved in such acts," Dr Kumar told PTI.

"There is a strong population of around 50,000 Hindus in Chak so for such an incident to happen is bad and the government must take notice of it and provide protection to the minorities," Kumar demanded.

Police said they had arrested two of the people involved in the killings and were searching for the other culprits.

A police official confirmed that the killings could have been the result of a dispute between some Hindus and the local Bhaya Baradari that took place two weeks back over a Hindu girl.

Kumar said minorities were well protected and secure military strongman Pervez Musharraf was the president but now they had become prey to open terrorism and crime.

Condemning the murders, the Pakistan Hindu Council appealed to President Asif Zardari, the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Army chief to take note of the targeting of Hindus in parts of Sindh.

There are a number of instances of persecution of Hindus in Pakistan. Minority members of the Pakistan National Assembly have alleged that Hindus were being hounded and humiliated to force them to leave Pakistan. In 1951, Hindus constituted 22 percentage of the Pakistani population (that includes the modern day Bangladesh);Today, the share of Hindus are down to 1.7 percent in Pakistan, and 9.2 percent in Bangladesh(In 1951, Bangladesh alone had 22% Hindu population)

Avoid cow slaughter on Id-Ul-Zuha: Deoband

On the eve of Id-Ul-Zuha, leading Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband on Sunday appealed to Muslims to avoid on the festival day cow slaughter in states where it has been banned to respect the sentiments of Hindus.

Vice-Chancellor of the Darul Uloom, Maulana Abul Kasim Naumani said, "As a mark of respect for the feelings of Hindus, the seminary has asked Muslims to avoid cow slaughter in the states where government has banned it on the occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha tomorrow."

A book has been brought out by the seminary on the concept of 'qurbani' (sacrifice) associated with the festival and this appeal has been made in it, he told a news agency.

The Maulana clarified that the appeal was meant for Muslims in states which has banned cow slaughter.

He also asked Muslims to cooperate with the municipal authorities as part of cleanliness drive during the festival.
