(i) Biblical God : ‘I came not for peace, but a sword.’
In the New Testament, Biblical God declares that He came to the earth not for peace, but to wield a sword :
 “34.  Think not that I am come to send peace on earth ; I came not to send peace, but a sword.”- Matthew, 10/34
(ii) Biblical God’s mission : to create rift in family
In the New Testament, Biblical God reveals His mission categorically.  He says :
 “For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.”

Vedic God bestows peace and harmony on all the members of family.  Vedas are harbinger of love and light, peace and prosperity, sweetness and serenity.  The first learning centre of man is family.  If there prevail peace and love, respect and reverence, dignity and decency, affection and integrity in each family, the citizens will build a strong nation.  That is why God precepts in Atharva Veda lesson of love, harmony, sweetness and unity in each family:
 Let no brother hate his brother,Let no sister hate her sister,
Mayest thou speak and behave
With harmony and sweetness,
Mayest thou be unanimous
With one accord.

How fine ideal of family concord is set in following mantra of Atharva Veda
 May son followThe footsteps of his father,
May he have unity of mind
With his mother
May wife talk to her husband

Unlike Bible God, who Himself declares in Bible that He has come to create rift in families, Vedic God declares in Atharva Veda that He has bound all men with common bond, so all should sit together, eat together, drink together and pray together.
 Let your drinking place be common Let the share of your food be common,
I bind you together
With common bond;
Just as all spokes (rods) of a wheel
Are united at its hub
From all directions,
So should you remain united
To pray together to glorious God.

Vedic religion ordains men to remain united having common minds, common aims and objects, and common goal.

Like sages of yore, being of one mind,

Vedic God, unlike Biblical God, urges men to assemble on common platform to think together, plan together and work together with one aim, one object, one purpose, one mind, one intention, one determination, one mode, one goal and one destination.

According to Holy Vedas, Creator of the cosmos is benign Father of all creatures.  Father never harms his children.  He may scold his children but never destroys them.  God Almighty, being beneficent Father of all His children, never hurts and harms them.  He is ocean of mercy which is showered on all equally and impartially.  He pours His benign bliss, bounty and benediction on all beings.  It is His grace, greatness, grandeur and glory.

That Thou bestowest

On Thy devotees.

(i) Biblical God massacred all first-born babies 
At midnight God killed all the first-born babies, both human and animal, in the land of Egypt.
“29. And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.”

(ii) Biblical God killed the Jews by sending

What was their offence ? They spoke against the Lord and against Moses.
(iii) Biblical God got the Jews swallowed alive by the earth
“32. And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them (the Jews) up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Ko’rah, and all their goods.”
- Numbers, 16/32
“33. They (the Jews), and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them ; and they perished from among the congregation.”

What was their offence ? Because they gathered themselves and spoke against Moses and Aaron.
(iv) Biblical God burnt alive 250 Jews 
Biblical God burnt alive 250 Jews in fire because of their only fault that they offered incense.
“35. And there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men (of Israel) that offered incense.”

(v) Biblical God threatens to kill children of Jews by wild beasts
“22. I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.”

(vi) Biblical God killed 70,000 Jews by pestilence
“14.  So the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel; and them fell of Israel seventy thousand men.”

(vii) Biblical God killed 50,070 men for looking into His box
“19.  And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark (box) of the Lord, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men ; and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.”

The Holy Bible prescribes death penalty by stoning for a number of offences, sometimes trivial.  ‘Rocks were hurled at the victim, until he or she became a bloody pulp, and the mass of flesh ceased to move.’ This horrible method of execution was carried out in Europe for several years in the past.
(i) Death penalty by stoning for blasphemy
 “16. And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him;……”

(ii) Death penalty for straying near Tabernacle
“51. And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the 1Avites shall set it up; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.”

(iii) Death penalty for not observing holiday (sabbath)
“14. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you; every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall he cut off from among his people.”

“2. Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the Lord; whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.”
- Exodus, 35/2
In Exodus, the reason given for observing seventh day as a day of rest is, ‘because God made the heavens and the earth in six days, and rested on the seventh day.’

It is a human being, not God, who gets fatigued on account of continuous work for six days, and needs rest on the seventh day.  God Almighty is Omnipotent.  To say that He rested on the seventh day, as if He was fatigued and exhausted, amounts to blasphemy.  Thus the above vese in Exodus degrades God to the position of frail human being.
(iv) Death penalty for disobeying parents 
Here is the most inhuman and the most brutal Biblical law which authorises parents, the father and the mother, to bring their own son to the elders of the city to get him stoned to death, for trivial fault of disobedience and stubbornness.  Read the following four verses :
“18. If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:”

 “19. Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;”
- Deuteronomy, 21/19
“20. And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.”
- Deuteronomy, 21/20
“21. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die; so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.”

No civilized state will approve of and enact the aforementioned brutal Biblical laws.  In fact the Church was, is and will be the enemy of civilization.  The Church and civilization are antipodes to each other.  Ms Matilda Joslyn Gage

“The church and civilization are antipodal; one means authority, the other freedom; one means conservatism, the other progress; one means the rights of God as interpreted by the priesthood, the other the rights of humanity as interpreted by humanity.  Civilization advances by free thought, free speech, free men.”

(v) Death penalty for cursing parents
36. “And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.”- Exodus, 21/17
(vi) Death penalty for homosexuality
“13. If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”

(vii) Death penalty for sexual intercourse with a woman during her menstruation period
“18. And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he bath discovered her fountain, and she bath uncovered the fountain of her blood; and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.”

(viii) Death penalty for loss of virginity

The Holy Bible prescribes capital punishment by stoning for loss of virginity in the following two verses :
 “20. But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel;”

“21. Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die; because she bath wrought folly in Isreal, to play the whore in her father’s house; so shalt thou put evil away from among you.”

(ix) Death penalty for adultery
“10. And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.”

Jesus Christ in Matthew 5/17 endorses the afore-mentioned first seven laws of death penalty prescribed by Moses in the following words :
“17. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets, I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”

If the above mentioned Biblical verdicts of death penalty are carried out strictly in modern Europe, a great portion of the population of the Western world would be put to death.  In modern permissive society, there are not many virgins around.  In the Western countries there are millions of people who do not observe holiday for going to the Church.  Now-a-days the Church premises are being sold in Europe.  In modern scientific era, thousands of educated rationalists in Europe and America have started questioning the unscientific and undemocratic teachings of Holy Bible.  If the above verdicts of death penalty are applied seriously to such rationalists, the population of the Western world will surely decrease to a large extent.
(x) Death penalty for disobeying leaders of the Church
Clement, the Bishop of Rome from 90-100 C.E., argued that God alone rules all things, that He lays down the law, punishing rebels and rewarding the obedient, and that His authority is delegated to Church leaders.  Clement went as far as to say that whoever disobeys these divinely ordained authorities has disobeyed God Himself and should receive the death penalty.46
argued that the ends justified the means.  He said :Even in the beginning of the twentieth century,
“The death sentence is a necessary and efficacious means for the Church to attain its end, when rebels act against it.”

Holy Vedas, unlike Holy Bible, do not formulate hard and fast laws for each offence.  This task is left to the legislature.  If religious books legislate laws, and those are carried out, the existence of legislature will be nullified and there will be no need to elect the members of legislature.  Vedas never say that criminals should not be punished.  But to a man of common sense, death sentence prescribed by Holy Bible appears to be too big a punishment for too small an offence like ‘not observing a holiday’.  However, Vedic approach to the criminals or sinners is reformative and constructive.  Holy Vedas admonish us not to look down upon those who have spoiled and stained their life on account of sins or crimes.  Indeed they are the wretched souls.  But they ought not to be despised, discouraged and denounced.  They are to be pitied upon rather than hated.  They deserve compassion and kindness. They should be reformed, elevated and encouraged to shun vice and lead virtuous life in future.  ‘Uplift the fallen and forlorn’ is the slogan of Vedic religion.  Vedic philosophy urges upon reformative and constructive approach.

The fallen and forlorn Lowly and forlorn
Ye illustrious men,
Raise him who has sinned
And degraded himself,
Restore him to life again.

(i) Blood oozed and flowed upto level of horse bridles The New Testament states that Biblical God’s angel threw his sickle into the earth with force, collected the vine of the earth and threw it into the winepress of the wrath of God.  Consequently the blood oozed and flowed from the winepress upto the level of horse bridles throughout the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.  Here is the text :
“19. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.”

“20. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.”

Holy Vedas state that God is kind to all, cruel to none.  He bestows bliss on all alike, whether high or low, virtuous or sinner.  He is the most gracious, the most merciful and the most benign friend of all.

“Mark me, then and then alone you are a Hindu, when the very name sends through you a galvanic shock of strength.  Then and then alone you are a Hindu, when every man who bears the name, from any country, speaking our language or any other language, becomes at once the nearest and the dearest to you.  Then and then alone you are a Hindu, when the distress of anyone bearing that name comes to your heart and makes you feel as if your own son were in distress.”

(i) Noah drank wine and remained naked 
 The Holy Bible states that Noah, the hero of righteousness, drank wine, and was so much intoxicated that he made himself naked in his tent. Ham, son of Noah, saw the nakedness of his father and informed his two brothers Shem and Japheth who took a garment and covered the nakedness of their father. Here is the text:

“20. And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard.”- Genesis, 9/20
“21. And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.”

“22. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.”
- Genesis, 9/22
“23. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.”

 “24. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.”
- Genesis, 9/24
“25. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.”

(ii) Reuben’s sexual intercourse with his father’s concubine
“And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard it.”

(iii) Onan’s sexual intercourse with his brother’s wife
Onan did not like that the children produced by his sperm might be called the progeny of his brother; hence he slept with his brother’s widow, had sexual intercourse with her, but spilled his sperm (semen) on the ground, because he did not want to produce children out of his sperm for his brother.  This action on the part of Onan displeased Biblical God, and the Lord killed him.  Here is the text :Holy Bible mentions that Judah instructed his son Onan to marry (have sexual intercourse with) his elder brother’s widow
“8. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.”

“19. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.”

(iv) Judah’s sexual intercourse with his widowed daughter-in-law
The Holy Bible states that when Tamar, the widowed daughter-in-law of Judah came to know that her father-in-law was to go to Timnath to shear his sheep, she put off her widow’s garment, wrapped herself in veil and sat on the way to Timnath.  When Judah saw her, he, not knowing that she was his widowed daughter-in-law, requested her to allow him to have sexual intercourse with her.  She said to him.  “What will you give me for having intercourse with you ?” Judah replied, “I shall send one kid out of flock of my goats.” She said, “Till you send the kid to me, you may keep with me your tokens like signet (seal), bracelets and your staff (stick) which is in your hand.” Judah gave these things to her and had sexual intercourse with her, and she conceived by him.

(v) Biblical God caused his prophet Isaiah to walk stark naked for three years
Holy Bible narrates that God caused his prophet Isaiah to walk stark naked for three years.  The Lord said that it was a sign for the people of Egypt and Ethiopia, and the king of Assyria will heap the same type of shame upon Egypt by displaying the Egyptian and Ethiopian prisoners, young and old, naked and barefooted, even with their buttocks uncovered.  Read the following three verses:
 “2. At the same time spake the Lord by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot.  And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.”

 “3. And the Lord said, Like as my servant Isaiah bath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;”

 “4. So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptian prisoners, and the Ethiopian captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.”

Count Tolstoy (Leo Tolstoy)
“The very foundations of this religion (Christianity) admitted by all and formulated in the Nicene creed, are so absurd and immoral, and run so counter to right feeling and to commonsense, that men cannot believe in them.”

Leo Tolstoy was proclaimed an enemy of the Church and was ex-communicated on account of his candid statements about Christianity.  He wrote :On February 22, 1901,
“With me, life makes religion, religion does not make life.”- Leo Tolstoy
(vi) Castration recommended by Jesus Christ
“12.  For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb; and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men; and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.”

The early Christians faithfully carried out the afore-mentioned divine injunction.  A Christian sect in Russia long practised castration as an act of obedience to Christ’s command.

Origen (c. 185-c. 254), the most influential theologian of the early Greek church, castrated himself so as to work freely in instructing female catechumens.

(vii) The daughters’ sexual intercourse with their father
The two daughters of Lot, who was the nephew of prophet Abraham, made their father drink wine at night, slept with him, had sexual intercourse with him and gave birth to two male children by their father. The elder daughter gave birth to a son named Moab.  He is called the father of Moabites till today.  The younger daughter gave birth to a son by her father.  He was named Benammi.  He is called the father of the children of Ammon till today.  Here is the full text consisting of seven verses:
“32.  Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.”

“33. And they made their father drink wine that night; and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.”

 “34. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father; let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.”

“35. And they made their father drink wine that night also; and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.”

“36. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.”

If the readers peruse chapter 19 the Genesis of fully, they will come to know that Lot was not one of those whom Biblical God abhorred.  He was dearer and nearer to God.  That is why God, being merciful to him, saved him by bringing him and his family out of the city through two angels, before the city was destroyed by God.

Here some questions arise : Do the educated Christians of modern civilized era approve of and believe in the afore-mentioned verses which narrate sexual intercourse of daughters with their father ? If they don’t, why do they not raise voice against the said immorality and incest and compel the Pope to delete this text from the Holy Bible ? Why do they not openly profess that they dislike the said text ? Why do they say that each verse of Bible is holy and true ? How do they claim that Bible contains all the answers to all the problems of life ? They call the non-Christians as infidels, but actually an infidel is he who pretends to believe in what he does not actually believe.
“I do not mean by this declaration to condemn those who believe otherwise; they have the same right to their belief as I have to mine.  But it is necessary to the happiness of man, that he be mentally faithful to himself Infidelity does not consist in believing, or in disbelieving; it consists in professing to believe what he does not believe.”

Almost all educated persons, who read the above verses regarding sexual intercourse of the two daughters with their father, will surely scoff at Ronald Reagan’s above remark.
(viii) Lot offers his two daughters to a riotous mob of sodomites

Lot, the nephew of prophet Abraham, offers his two daughters to a riotous mob of homosexuals in order to save two angels who visited him.
 “8. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes; only unto these men (two angels) do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.”

(ix) The prophet Abram’s illicit connection with maid servant
Holy Bible states that Abram’s wife Sarai was barren.  So she gave her Egyptian maid, Hagar, to her husband Abram to be his wife.  When the Egyptian maid conceived, Sarai felt that she was despised in the eyes of her maid, so she (Sarai) drove her to wilderness with the consent of Abram.  Hagar gave birth to a son named Ishmael.  At that time Abram was 86 years old.  Read the following five verses:
 “3. And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.”

 “4. And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.”

 “5. And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee; I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes; the Lord judge between me and thee.”

 “6. But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee.  And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.”

(x) The prophet Abram marries his sister 
The Holy Bible states that Abimelech, the king of Gerar, took away Sarai, the wife of the prophet Abram, and kept her in his palace.  Abram, the prophet, himself admitted to king Abimelech that Sarai, his wife, was his sister, the daughter of his father.  Read the following verse :
 “12. And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.”

(xi) Abram, the prophet, barters his wife’s honour 
Holy Bible mentions that when Abram, the prophet, along with his wife Sarai went to Egypt, he said to his wife, “You look beautiful; when the Egyptians will see you, they will kill me and will allow you to remain alive, hence you may announce that you are my sister.  In this way I shall be saved.” Here is the text
 “11. And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon;”

When the princes (officers) of Pharaoh saw Sarai, they commanded her before the king Pharaoh, and she was taken into Pharao’s palace.  The king Pharaoh kept Sarai in his palace and pleased Abram by giving him gifts of sheep, oxen, asses, camels, male servants and maidservants.  Thus the prophet Abram passed on his beautiful wife Sarai, calling her as his sister, to Pharaoh and allowed her to remain in his royal palace by receiving in return the afore-mentioned gifts.  The readers are advised to peruse the last ten verses of chapter 12 of Genesis to understand this episode fully.  However for the sake of brevity, here two verses are cited :
 “15. The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commanded her before Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.”

The Holy Bible continues saying that when God plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues, he (Pharaoh) sent her back to her husband, Abram, who, however did not seem to have returned the gifts which he had received from the king.
The prophet Abram played the same trick with Abimelech, the king of Gerar, and received from him the gifts of sheep, oxen, male-servants, maidservants and one thousand pieces of silver.  Here is the Biblical text

“The writers of Bible had slight concern for the principles of morality.  They were more concerned with rape, murder robbery, slavery, licentiousness, brutal ignorance and derogatory superstition.  If the ministers of the Gospel are too dense and stupid to realise the moral mischief resulting from the perverse teachings of the Bible, then it is about time to bring them to their senses.”

(xii) Abandonment of women was a covenant with God!
The Holy Bible mentions abandonment of women and their children, and it is called a covenant with God ! Will the feminists of the world like it ? Will women of the globe approve of it ? Here is the verse : 

“3. Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them……”

(xiii) David locked up ten concubines
 “3. And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.”

(xiv) Moses : Keep alive virgins for your enjoyment and kill non-virgins
The Holy Bible states that Moses, one of the towering figures in Bible, instructed his soldiers to kill all boys and all those girls who had lost their virginity by sleeping with males, but to keep alive for their enjoyment those virgins, who did not have sexual intercourse with males.  Read the following five verses :
 “17. Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that bath known man by lying with him.”

 “18.  But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.”

 “32.  And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep.”

 “35. And thirty and two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him.”

 “40. And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the Lord’s tribute was thirty and two persons,”

The afore-mentioned verses indicate that thirty two thousand virgins were captured as booty and distributed among the congregation and the Lord.

Mark Twain, the great American humorous writer, throws light on the above passage as under :
“Their naked privacies were probed to make sure they had the hymen intact.  After this humiliation, they were sent away from the land that had been their home, to be sold into slavery; the worst of slaveries; bed slavery; to excite lust and satisfy it with their bodies; slavery to any buyer, be he gentleman, or be he coarse and filthy ruffian. (Letters From the Earth)”

(xv) Sale of daughters for sexual gratification 
Will the members of Human Rights Commission approve of sale of daughters as mentioned in the following verses of Holy Bible ?
 “7. And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.”

 “8. If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed; to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he bath dealt deceitfully with her.”

One must question to Christian missionaries : Is woman like a toy ? As long as you enjoy sexual satisfaction, you may keep her with you, but when she ceases to satisfy you sexually, you may throw her ! Is it morality ? No civilized states would tolerate such infamy.

 Britishers often boasted that they were the civilized nation for centuries.  Will they dare deny that sale of daughters was practised in England for seven hundred years, after the introduction of Christianity?

Ms. Matilda Joslyn Gage, renowned female American writer, corroborates the above statement as under-
“While the sale of daughters was practiced in England for seven hundred years after the introduction of Christianity, we note that by the ancient law of India, a father was forbidden to sell his daughter in marriage, or receive the smallest present there for In mediaeval England the daughter was held as a portion of the father property to be sold to the highest bidder.”

(xvi) Killing male enemies, and marrying their females
Holy Bible allows and justifies killing of male enemies, then marrying their beautiful females from among the captives, and abandoning them later on if such captive wives do not give sexual satisfaction.  Here are five Biblical verses in this connection :
 “10. When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the Lord thy God bath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive.”

 “14.  And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will;……”

Can it be called marriage or rape ? No civilized man will approve of marrying captive women by force and throwing them away when they cease to give sexual satisfaction.
Here is another passage in Holy Bible, which allows and justifies killing all male enemies, and taking away their women folk for sexual gratification
 “13. And when the Lord thy God bath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:”

Note - ‘Spoil of war’ means plundering of the possessions (including women and children) of enemies in war after they are killed.
With all this, the Christian missionaries claim that only the religion of Christ and Holy Bible will lead men and women to moral progress.  The readers, after having read the afore-mentioned instances, will themselves judge whether the religion of Christ and Holy Bible will lead men and women to moral progress or retrogress.

In this connection the remark of Bertrand Russell, the renowned philosopher, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1950, is worth quoting.  He says :In this connection the remark of
“The Christian religion as organised in its Churches has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world.”

“Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon; than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalise mankind,- and, for my own part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel.”

Holy Vedas consist of complete moral code of conduct for men and women of the world.  It is not possible to cite here all instances.

Purity is the key of spiritual treasure.  It elevates and exalts man.  Prayer without purity is as useless as body without soul.  Not only purity of body, but that of mind is required.  He who is pure and pious in thoughts, words and deeds, can alone tread on path of spiritualism.  Those who are pure within and without, hold the passport to enter the kingdom of God.  Vedas emphasise upon piety and purity.  Hence man should pray to Providence not for personal power, position and prestige, but for purity and piety.
 May the omniscient Lord Make me pure and pious.

Vedic message is divine message which inspires and elevates man, exalts and uplifts him, invigorates and ennobles him, infuses and enthuses him to soar high to achieve immortal bliss. Vedic philosophy admonishes us never to descend but to ascend and ascend to sublime thoughts and deeds.  Holy Vedas precept us to live with dignity
 O man, elevate thyself,
Ascend high, do not descend low,
I endow thee
With vigour and wisdom
To live with dignity.
Come, enter the divine chariot Of immortal bliss,
And impart thy knowledge
To assembly of people.

Holy Vedas condemn and criticise lustful life in the form of unrestrained looseness in sex.  To indulge in sexual conjugation with wife of another person is nothing but immorality and intemperance, debasement and debauchery, lewdness and lechery.  The lewd and lecherous man as well as woman is not entitled to participate in yajna according to Rig Veda :
 The licentious persons are not fit
To participate in yajna.

corroborates the statement as underHe who indulges in debauchery loses his energy and strength, vision and vitality, memory and manliness, dignity and decorum.  His age is tremendously reduced.

There is no other sin,
Which reduces age so quickly
As that of sexual intercourse
With wife of another man.

Vedas therefore emphasise upon purity and piety, chastity and sanctity of body and mind which enables us to lead healthy life full of healthy thoughts and healthy deeds to serve God and guide, father and mother, saints and seers, country and community.  This is the only way to enjoy life and gain admiration and immortality.
Ye enlightened pious souls,
May we hear with our ears
What is good,
May we see with our eyes
What is good,
May we enjoy
Full span of our life
With pure limbs and pure body
And full satisfaction of mind
In the service of supreme Lord.
                    - Rig Veda 1/89/8
Holy Vedas emphasise on upliftment and elevation of all beings.  The good of an individual lies in cumulative progress of all persons.  That is why Vedic religion precepts man to purify not only himself but also others.
Begin to lead pure life
To attain universal splendour,
Purify thyself,
And make others pure,
Cross over the troublesome paths
Along with all heroes,
And live cheerfully
For a hundred autumns.
                    - Atharva Veda 12/2/28



(i) Biblical God curses all women
The women have been belittled, humiliated and denigrated by the following verse of the Holy Bible, in which Biblical God has cursed all women that He will multiply their sorrow and they will endure pain of child-birth and that their husbands shall rule over them because of their no fault but that of their first grandmother Eve eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.  Will any educated woman believe in and approve of being ruled by her husband as declared by Biblical God in Bible ? Here is the relevant verse :
 “16. Unto the woman he (God) said, 1 will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”

That is why in nineteenth century some Christian priests opposed the use of anesthetics at the time of child-birth on the plea that it would amount to the transgression of the so called divine will under which woman must endure pain of child-birth.  It was only when Queen Victoria had anestheties at the time of her child-birth, that it was allowed to be used commonly.

In this connection Bertrand Russell, the renowned philosopher, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1950, writes :
“One occasion for the logical intervention to prevent the mitigation of human suffering was the discovery of anaesthetics. Simpson in 1847 recommended their use in child birth, and was immediately reminded by the clergy that God said to Eve (Bible, Genesis, III: 16) : ‘In sorrow shalt thou bring forth children.’”

Christian priests condemn birth control.  In their opinion, women are machines to produce more and more children to increase the population of their co-religionists.

(ii) Woman was created for man, not man for woman
The New Testament states that originally man did not spring from woman, but woman was made out of man, and that woman was not created for woman’s sake, but for the sake of man.
44. “8. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.”- I Corinthians, 11/8
45. “9. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.”

In 1977, Pope Paul VI explained :
“Women were barred from the priesthood because our Lord was a man.”

(iii) Christ is the head of man, but not of woman
The New Testament states that the head of every man is Christ, but he is not the head of woman.  She is headed by man, not Christ.  It indicates that woman does not enjoy equal status according to Holy Bible.  Here is the relevant text :
“3. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

(iv) Women must remain under domination of men
The New Testament ordains women to remain under domination of men.  They should not teach, nor usurp authority over men, but to remain in silence with all subjection.  Read the following five verses :
 “11.  Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.”- I Timothy, 2/11
 “12. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to he in silence.”

 “13. For Adam was First formed, then Eve.”

“14. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”

 “24. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.”

When Christian monks in the fourth century hacked the great scholar Hypatia to death with oyster shells, St. Cyril explained that it was because she was an iniquitous (wicked) female who had presumed, against God’s commandments, to teach men.

(v) Submission of wives to husbands
Again the New Testament declares that God considers it as fit and proper that wives should submit themselves to their own husbands.  Here is the text :
 “18. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own Husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.”- Colossians, 3/18 
It is a matter of agony and amazement that the State has played the role of agent and slave of the Church in subjugation of woman.  In this connection Ms Matilda Joslyn Gage, an American writer, states :
“The State, agent and slave of the Church, has so long united with it in suppression of woman’s intelligence, has so long preached of power to man alone, that it has created an inherited tendency, an inborn line of thought toward repression.”

Dante (1265-1321), the greatest poet of Italy, continuously fought against the political aggression of the Papacy.  In this connection, John Bond, the noted American journalist, writes
“The great poet Dante, a thoroughly orthodox Catholic, consistently fought against the political aggression and against the wild claims of the Papacy.  Consequently he was driven into perpetual exile and condemned to ‘be burnt until dead’ in case of capture.  His famous book exposing the falsity of the Papal pretences in the forum of reason and history was ordered burned by the public hangman.  A Roman cardinal of that day issued an order to open Dante k tomb and have the body tied to the stake and given to the flames as that of a heretic.  The order was never executed because the friends of the great poet interfered.”

(vi) Women not permitted to speak in Churches
According to law laid down in the New Testament, women are not permitted to speak in Churches.  If they want to learn any thing, they may ask their husbands at home, for it is a matter of shame for women to speak in the Church.  Here is the Biblical text in this connection :
 “34. Let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.”

 “35. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”

Will the educated women believe in and approve of the above text ? If not, let them raise voice emphatically.
writes :The women in England were not permitted to read the Holy Bible for a long time.  In this connection
“For a long period after the reformation, English women were not permitted to read the Bible, a statute of the Eighth Henry prohibiting ‘women and others of low degree’ from its use.”

(vii) Woman, not man, must cover her head during prayer
The New Testament admonishes men not to cover their heads while praying, but for women the admonition is different.  They should cover their heads during prayer.  The Holy Bible further ordains that if a woman does not cover her head during prayer, she dishonours her head and looks as if she is shaven.  The next Biblical command for a woman is more strict.  It says that if a woman does not cover her head, while praying, let her be shorn.  But if she feels ashamed to be shorn or shaven, then let her cover her head.  Let us read the following three verses in this matter :
 “4. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.”

 “5. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head; for that is even all one as if she were shaven.”

 “6. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn; but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.”

(viii) Test for unfaithful wife by making her drink bitter water
Holy Bible prescribes test for faithless wife as under : “If a wife is suspected of faithlessness by her husband, she will be brought before the priest.  The priest will put her to test by making her drink water, which causes curse.  If the woman is defiled and has committed the sin of having sexual intercourse with the man other than her husband, the water will make her belly swell and her thigh shall rot.” Here is the text :
 “20. But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband;”

“21. Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The Lord make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the Lord doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;”

 “22. And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot; And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.”

 “27. And when he bath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot; and the woman shall be a curse among her people.”

Why did Biblical God not institute similar test for unfaithful husband ? The above four verses indicate the partiality of Biblical God and injustice to women.  When will the women awaken from sound slumber and raise their strong protest against their denigration and humiliation in the name of religion ?
(ix) Does woman have a soul ?
Not only the Church, but also the State denied that woman possesses a soul.  Matilda Joslyn Gage writes :
“As early as the sixth century a council at Macon (585) fifty-nine bishops taking part, devoted its time to a discussion of this question, ‘Does woman possess a soul ?’…… Until time of Peter the Great, women were not recognized as human beings in that great division of Christendom known as the Greek church, the census of that empire counting only males, or so many ‘souls’ -no woman named.  Traces of this old belief have not been found wanting in our own country within the century.  As late as the Woman’s Rights Convention in Philadelphia, 1854, an objector in the audience cried out : ‘Let women first prove they have souls; both the Church and the State deny it.’ ”56

(x) Biblical law of divorce humiliates woman 
Read the following four verses in this connection :, and the land where such re-marriage takes place commits .  The Holy Bible emphatically states that such re-marriage of twice-divorced wife with previous husband is Biblical law of divorce renders sheer injustice and atrocity to a woman.  According to Holy Bible, if a husband is displeased with his wife, he can divorce her instantly, simply by giving a letter of divorcement in her hand and asking her to get out of his house.  But Holy Bible does not authorise a wife to divorce her husband.  The Holy Bible renders another injustice to a woman by making a law that if the divorced wife becomes another man’s wife, and if he too hates her and divorces her in the same manner, she cannot go back to her former husband, because
 “1. When a man bath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she rind no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her; then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.”

(xi) Could a Christian husband release himself from marriage bond by killing his wife ?
